Sanny
Funny you should ask... Not that this makes it much clearer, though. But the article does say this: Philosophy In philosophy, the Russian theologian/philosopher Vladimir Solovyov (1853–1900) used the word "syzygy" to signify "unity-friendship-community," used as either an adjective or a noun, meaning: * a pair of connected or correlative things, or * a couple or pair of opposites. That could be all of us! We're a unity-friendship-community, made of opposites, as well as connected or correlative things.

jdbower
Those Wikipedia guys don't even know when to use "all y'all" instead of just "y'all"!

Syzygies
I thought SYZYGY was a license plate meaning/pronounciation for a Sizey Guy! Duh..... Actually, I did have SYZYGIES as my license plate in New York for quite a while. It was fun watching people's reactions. My favorite was a kid clearly heading for a career pumping gas, who looked and looked, then threw me a finger. I've been busy building and overclocking computers (it's like a bat flying around in a dozen-dimensional cage) but we're trying the Zuni Cafe chicken recipe in our cooker tomorrow night. linuxwrangler
Might not explain syzygies but might explain Syzygies: (From http://www.xkcd.com/ - A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. jdbower
I love that comic, even if I did find a disturbing reference to my in-laws in it once... This one is probably my favorite since there are a lot of math teachers in my life.
linuxwrangler
I love that comic... Daily reading for me. As someone who has to constantly remind developers to distrust, verify and scrub everything submitted to a webserver, I loved this one http://xkcd.com/327/ And I got a good laugh from the overzealous automatic WiFi configuration: http://xkcd.com/416/
