DavidS Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 3 chuck rolls a total weight of 78 lbs. Will freeze 2 and cook the smallest one this weekend a little 23 pounder.
Nator Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Cut before cooking? Someone said awhile ago they were cutting their Chuck Roll in half and cooking separately. Wondering from the Chuck Roll gang would you cut lengthwise or widthwise ????
DavidS Posted August 17, 2006 Author Report Posted August 17, 2006 Thought about cutting first but I think I'll cook and then foodsaver. The largest one is 29 lbs. Really only wanted one to try. The way I had to get one was to buy a case. Should be a good test for a loooooooooooong overnight cook.
Sanny Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 woof Me, I like the dog biscuits in the tupper behind the meat. What's that, some sort of bribe for the dog? Here, eat these and pretend there are not 70 lbs of raw meat on the counter next to them.
DavidS Posted August 17, 2006 Author Report Posted August 17, 2006 Yes it is. He is spoiled rotten. He has trained us well. He does do a great job cleaning spills and testing my cooking.
Farmer John Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 So how did you cook it? DavidS - how did you cook the chuck roll? Seasoning, time, temp, etc. What would you do different? Thanks, John
DavidS Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 Haven't cook yet. I froze the 2 biggest ones. The little one a 23 pounder is aging now. I will cook early this week. Will post pictures and results when done.
