normstar Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Nice! How's you cook it? I see some evidence of low and slow, but there also a nice brown crust.

I soaked him in soy and worchestershireshireshireshire sauce (sorry, never know when to end that word), sprinkled on garlic powder, coarse ground black pepper, and paprika and let him marinate for an hour and a half or so. Pre-heated the KK at 325 for a few hours, then threw on the sirloin and some taters for baking. I did run up the temp to 375 for a little while at the end.
lee grabowski Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 The beef looks great and that looks like a Japanese knife in the background. We have a Shun knife and love it.
tony b Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I own 3 Shuns and love them!! Just wish that they weren't so expensive; but just like a KK, you pay for superior quality!!!
jeffshoaf Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 I ordered a couple of relatively cheap knives from Japanesechefsknife.com that I liked, them got a Shun set on clearance. I think the blades on the cheap knives are just s nice as the Shuns, but the fit and finish of the handles on the Shuns is tons better. Sent from my AT100 using Tapatalk
tony b Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Thanks for the Japanese knife web tip. I will definitely be checking them out!
jeffshoaf Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 Thanks for the Japanese knife web tip. I will definitely be checking them out! They don't have shuns, but they have some very high-end knives that are supposed to be superior to Shuns and are priced accordingly, as well as plenty of less expensive knives that are a good intro to Japanese knives. Quick delivery from Japan as well - mine arrived around a week after ordering - with reasonable shipping rates.
