Is this a KK

Found this on craigslist for what i think is a great price. Is this a Kamado Komodo or is this a knock off. What would cause the tiles to be falling off? The owner said since he inherited it it has not been covered.  Is this an older model, and maybe the grout used has changed? In your opinion is this worth "restoring"

There are a lot of pictures online of the Richard Johnson POSK's. There are lots of pictures on this forum of KK's of various ages (they haven't changed all that much over the years). The picture you posted looks exactly like the former, and nothing at all like the latter.

A simple giveaway in this instance is you'll never see external bands or lifting pistons on a kk. The shape of the lid and top vent is different, and I've never heard of tiles just falling off a kk.

Thanks for the reply, the external bands do make a distinct difference. When yall were posting POSK earlier, i was thinking POS Komodo.

As was said above ... nothing but a bad flower pot!

The external pistons to help the dome open  is another dead giveaway. 

KK's use a back spring hidden behind a spring plate/cover.
