  1. Not a single moment of buyer's remorse! You'll be like a 5 year old 2 weeks before Christmas; so excited that you think you're going to explode and the time will drag until it arrives, and when it does, you'll want to rip into the package with both hands to get to your new toy!

  2. CeramicChef- when I spoke to Dennis he said there is more of a saving going from Indonesia to Toronto just takes longer, so, thats the way I'm leaning. I was looking at the online store my current color of choice is not there, speckled black tile. @5698k have not ordered yet but I'm getting a lot closer faster then I thought. Im a little bummed out about the Canadian to Us exchange.

  3. @ckreef thanks...the more you read and see pictures of KK's just makes you want one more. Sometimes I wish I never had the internet. My road to ordering one is getting shorter, I'm 99% sure on my color now.

  5. Like the ads says, "Just Do It!" I'd second CC's suggestions to get the Sunbrella cover, (especially important for those of us that live in the colder regions of the planet!) and the baking/pizza stone. Get the basket splitter with a second charcoal basket. You will use it more than you think, especially if there are only 2 of you to cook for. Plus, it's crazy efficient for getting screaming hot fires going to sear steaks. The 2nd basket lets you easily swap back and forth between the 2 configurations. If memory serves correctly, you can also pack about 15 boxes of Dennis' Coconut Charcoal (CocoChar) onto the pallet with your 23" KK. An absolute "MUST!" Since you're going to have to suffer the consequences of the significant other's slippers, you should load up on all the accessories that you think you'd ever want, so you only have to take the beating once!

  6. Lucky me, my first ceramic cooker was my idea, but the KK was Laurie's idea. I swear she bought it for the chance to talk on the phone with Dennis. He really is that charming. Guys: Arrange an incoming call, and have her pick up...

  7. It is a model that a lot of manufacturers use. But they miss out on the fact that people are willing to pay for great products with great design. Maybe they should look at Apple. Apple is the most valuable company in the world right now. Out of the twenty most profitable quarters any company has had, oil/gas companies have fifteen slots. The remaining five are all Apple.

  8. @5698k you gave some advice on another fourm, thank you. I've decided on the 23" and I do have a significant other my wife. Just waiting for the best time to break the news to her about getting the KK. Once she stops throwing her slippers at me then I'll ask her for her color opinion. I hope shes wearing her soft comfy slippers.LOL.

  9. Over on the Kamado Guru forum I once asked why Kamado Joe fireboxes couldn’t be made as two piece units, since they kept cracking, and Andy Scalzo said that it would take too much in the way of resources to develop such a thing: If ever there was a reason for me to want to get a KK grill over the other ceramics, this is it. On the one hand, Dennis has put the effort and resources into designing a firebox that will stand up to high temperatures without cracking. On the other hand, we have a business model that would rather replace a less than optimally designed part instead of redesigning it to work better.

  10. Gday Grillers, Pork ribs here in Australia are usually butchered very lean with very little meat or fat left on them and their always stupidly expensive, but there still bloody tasty. I marinated these overnight in a variation of a Cha Slew recipe, i always omit the often called for but undersirable red colouring. Fired up the BB and let them have it for two hours at 150c/300f. This was a relatively quick roast, the grill cooked them perfectly with great texture and that authentic chinese roast colour.
