  1. Well, I didn't do it on my KK (don't have it yet) but here is a pic of my sourdough loaf. I love a good loaf of bread
  2. Well it's been a week since I packed up my old Q. As much as I wanted to get rid of it I now have nothing to cook my food on. That part sucks. Anyway, I noticed even though it's gone the ghost remains. I think this is the "Shroud of Turin" in the BBQ world. Maybe the Shroud of Johnson. This would be gold on Ebay Hopefully Customs will stop gawking at the KK so Dennis can ship it soon. Joe
  3. Hi All, I finally sold my Mexi-K and await my new KK. I have a BBQ Guru that worked very well but was considering trying th Stoker. Would it be worth it for me to sell my guru and try the stoker? Any opinions? Thanks, Joe
  4. Well, I can't speak from experience with this particular cooker but if the dome temp is 700 degrees the grill temp will likely be hotter than that. With my old Kamado I never had an issue with searing at the top. Having said that I've never tried searing at a lower level but would imagine you'd need some long tongs and a good heat resistant glove.
  5. Indeed I did. Got a decent buck for it too so had to let it go. It's actually gone on Saturday so I have a bit more time
  6. Hi All, After a few weeks of emails back and forth with Dennis, I am on the list to receive a black otb 22" and a blue (JRE R 047 Z) otb 22". The black one is for a friend of mine. I hope I like the blue. I didn't want to get the same cobalt blue as I have now (want to try and forget about that experience). Should receive them mid August if all goes well. Hopefully they'll get here asap as I don't have a Q Surely a thorough evaluation with lots of pics will follow . Joe
  7. I presume it's just as big or bigger than a Mexi-K #7? Thanks, Joe
  8. Hi All, I am on my last step to sending Dennis my loot but I'm having trouble deciding on a color. I am interested in the standard blue but that closely matches my Mexi-K cobalt blue or the JRE R 047Z blue Any thoughts? I'm leaning towards the latter in hopes people don't confuse the new and old cooker. Dennis said it looks like semi fractured blue glass onto of a light to white tile. It does however have a white border. Thanks, Joe
  9. I'm not really sure what the issue is with the white tape. I just know you're not supposed to use it for gas. Having said that I too have used the white stuf for but have since switched to the correct tape.
  10. Hi All, I'm wondering what is used to plug the holes for the polder, rotisserie and guru port when they're not in use? Thanks, Joe
  11. I just buy the olive oil spray (like Pam but olive oil) at my local Whole Foods. Always works and never goes rancid.
  12. If that's standard teflon tape it's not rated for gas. You need the stuff that's a a light pinkish orange and much thicker than the white stuff.

    Natural Gas?

The burner that's supplied can't be ordered in natural gas? I don't own a propane tank.
  14. Hi All, I know that subject line could unleash a host of jokes but I am serious. In order for me to afford my OTB I need to sell my #7 with a "few" tiles missing. Anyone have any idea what these things go for on the used market? Is there a good place for me to unload this thing, other than ebay? It's in pretty decent shape and is about 5 years old. Thanks! Joe
  15. while i like the cut of your jib, sir, i certainly hope you are referring to your mexi-K! Absolutely! Edited original post so there is no confusion.
  16. Ha ha, thanks for the warm welcome. I feel so "dirty". I was part of RJ's diabolical plan to spread his garbage across the globe. I actually convinced 7 of my friends and family to buy #7's. Despite the fact that I gave RJ almost $10,000 over the course of 2-3years I still can't get mine fixed. No loyalty whatsoever. You would think that he would have some obligation to me and make it right but he doesn't care. I sent a PM to Dennis for a price on an OTB 22" supreme. I am hoping to slowly convince the 7 other suckers to follow my lead and sell theirs on Ebay or something before the tiles hit the floor. They don't yet know of these latest developments (www.kamadofraudforum.org and the like). I'm afraid to bring it up for fear of being beaten to death What I'll need to do is get my OTB, display its superiority and then suggest they sell theirs and buy a Komodo. I have a large circle of BBQ'ing friends so hopefully things will work out for the best. While I am in Canada and only have 4 months of summer, in the winter I can be seen shoveling snow off my deck to make a clearing so I can get my butts to the pit. Sure it's only 2 degrees out but the smoke smells just as good I will say that my BBQ guru has made the winter cooks SO much more enjoyable. Trying to get a stable temp with the Mexi-K damper and top is and exercise in futility. I'l post some pics of my junk later today. (mexi-K)
  17. I'm form Ontario (Canada) and an unhappy Mexi-K owner (surprise). I'm happy with the way it cooks it just has a big bald spot from the tile falling off. It's been 9 months and still no replacement tile
