  1. how much it would cost for a KK if it were manufactured in the US? I always wondered that.
  2. Thats exactly it and a good way to put it. The Harleyness! I like that. I had a friend who worked at a machine shop that made a ton of parts for Boeing machine me a pair of titanium knee sliders. Every corner was a shower of white hot sparks You really have to try one of the newer touring bikes. They are a nice ride and all you have to worry about is looking good.
  3. Its true what you say about the Italians and their ability to produce astounding pieces of machinery. Hell, even my Italian watch (Panerai PAM 50) looks subtle but at the same time you know its something special. I have to say though HD has something that no other bike can offer and that is a very loyal following and camaraderie among owners. Even non bikers will really go out of their way to help you out. In the 90's I only rode sport bikes. Yamaha FZR1000's were my poison of choice. Rode those things like I stole 'em. Anyway, there is a route I always took that essentially went through the backwoods of Ohio, WV, Virginia and Tennessee. I would stop to look at a map and people would drive by. I took the same trip on my Fatboy and under the exact same situation I swear everyone stopped. Mind you I'm in the middle of nowhere so we're talking 2 or 3 cars but they all stopped. ""Hey you need gas", "You need to use my cell phone" "Everything all right"? It was amazing and a total reversal of what I experienced on my FZR. Hell I could have been having a heart attack on that thing and I'd probably still be at the side of the road

  5. Funny you should mention the muffler burn. The gym is literally 2 minutes from my house. Its a nice day and I figure I'll ride it there in shorts even though I look like a knob. What do I care? Its only a mile away. Anyway, get off the bike and ZIIING! Touched the exhaust with the back of my calf. SOB! Did that hurt. Did that twice.....first and last
  6. Dennis great color choice I rode sport bikes for years and am lucky to be alive to tell the tale. The stupid stuff I used to do........ I had a Harley Fatoboy in 1996 then sold it. I didn't buy another because they were too much money. Now that the market has fallen they are reasonably affordable. I have to give HD credit. The fit and finish is great and with the Brembo brakes, 96cu motor and other refinements they perform quite well (for a cruiser). I can go for hours on this thing and still be able to move when I get to my destination I miss sport bikes but my back doesn't and neither does my wife. She hated riding on the back of those things. Besides I have no self control so I'd probably kill myself with the power bikes produce today.
  7. Picked it up a few weeks ago. Me likey! Been out of riding for a few years but thought I'd take the plunge and get back in it again.
  8. For the 5 minutes it takes to properly light a raging fire I'm not sure its worth the effort and potential mess. If I'm in that big of a rush I have no business grilling meat JMHO
  9. True! I was confused. Title is wrong, it should read FOCUS Title edited
  10. Hi All, Wife needs a new car so we went to the Ford dealer. Long story short we were looking at a loaded Focus or a loaded Fiesta. With the incentives both are about the same price but the Focus has an extra $3k incentive (technically the Focus is more money but the same with the $3k incentive). Having said that its a 2010 whereas the Fiesta is a 2011 and its a ten year old massaged platform while the Fiesta is brand new (in the US anyway). The Fiesta actually drove better than the Focus, has more "luxury car" options like push button start and gets better mileage. Surprisingly, the Fiesta was quieter and handled better. I was thinking while the Focus is technically cheaper due to the $3k incentive the resale will be poorer once the new revamped model is released in early 2011 The Fiesta is the newest "world" car to be released by Ford so I was thinking the resale would be better. Not to mention it gets outstanding reviews by just about everyone. Trouble is the name.......Fiesta. Spawns sad images of the 1980's for me Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. Hi All, Wife brought home some fresh lake perch from the market on Saturday. I pulled out the turkey fryer (just the burner) and soaked the perch in buttermilk, dredged it in seasoned flour and then fried it. Oh dear lord that was absolutely amazing! I swear I ate a pound of it myself. I'll try and get some pics next time. I was too busy stuffing my face
  12. Nice! I find using chunks instead of chips yields better results (for smoke flavor). Chips burn up too fast. Welcome to the family!
  13. What he said. Awesome guy who does outstanding work.
  14. Its the briny seawater taste which I like. I chew them. I think people that swallow them whole have difficulty with the "gelatinous texture". I eat sashimi and love carpaccio and tartare too. If your not a raw food guy then it may not be for you.
  15. I LOVE oysters but hate opening them. Those look delicious.
  16. I sear steaks at temps >650 so I wouldn't worry about it at all. I use grill floss then follow up with a wire brush and then wipe with a paper towel sprayed with PAM and I'm good to go. Thorough cleaning of the grills is an infrequent occurence (for me anyway).
  17. I think I first saw the KK on eBay when I was looking to sell my POSK (because it was on the verge of falling apart). I saw the OTB and said WTF is that thing (it looked strange). Two OTB's later and four friends and family recruited and I couldn't be happier. Once you have a KK you realize what a piece of garbage the POSK is.
  18. Speaking of cleaning I tried this stuff http://www.krudkutter.com/originalkrudkutter.asp on the outside of my KK. I had a lot of junk that had settled on my KK over the winter. Lots of low and slows too without a cleaning so there was quite a bit of grease and smoke residue on the outside. I sprayed it on full strenght, wiped it off and it looked like brand new. I may give it a try with my grills and a pressure washer and post my results.
  19. Fortunately for me I am not diabetic but I do watch what I eat. I have found this product http://www.wheylow.com tastes exactly like sugar and does not illicit an insulin response like regular sugar does (according to the manufacturer, not me). I use it primarily for the reduced calories but find there are no weird tastes associated with it. I hate splenda and other artificial sweeteners because they taste artificial.
  20. Nice job on the first (real) cook. Its a big responsibility cooking that much food on a strange beast. Anyway, you HAVE to use a drip pan. I like the dollar store foil pans. Cheap and easy to throw away. Second, buy a BBQ Guru or similar. I don't want to start a war about it because there are several threads on the subject already but you really can get some solid shut eye without worry. For me personally, it was the best money I spent. I just did 20lbs of butts the other night. I put them on at 2200hrs or so, I got up to P at 0300hrs and went right back to bed. Didn't even go downstairs to check. Thats confidence. Third, your damage that was sustained-don't wory about it. I can tell you from experience these cookers are very easy to repair. I had to do a repair on mine because someone used the lid handle to lift the cooker (don't do that btw). I performed major surgery on the beast and to this day its tip top and that was a year ago. Welcome to the Klub!
