Re: Creosote Err, isn't that going to make keeping the temperature down pretty difficult? I think I'd rather let the meat warm up and use seasoned smoking woods.

Re: Gas Lighter Useful or Not Worth It? Thank You I assume that those two holes in the floor with the ss sleeves in them are for supports for the burner? -

Re: Harvest Gold (aka Autumn Nebula) vs. Olive Green Gold vs Pete, here's the photo of Pebbles with the side tables: I challenge anyone to think that they wouldn't be proud as p*ss to be using this cooker to entertain on their deck or patio with guests all standing around oooohing and aaaahing, -
Re: No lift gate Oh yeah, I have one of those, lol!

Re: Bad news, good news..... Torture? Torture? I had to let that beauty sit in the garage for a week waiting to assemble Team Naked Whiz Competition Weight Lifters to assemble, lol. I won't be firing it up for a week or two. I need to ensure that as I write the review I have all the photos I need before it gets dirty or filled with charcoal and ash. I'll probably do all my cooking on my Kamado Joe cooker until the time comes. I'm sure that Pebbles understands and appreciates the fact that she's going to be on the world's biggest stage, the Interworldwebnet and she has to look her best!

Re: Bad news, good news..... Another day, another accessory. Those side tables are sweet!

The bad news is it cost $450 to find and fix a water line leak 4 feet beneath the surface this morning. The good news is the plumber finished work right about the time I needed a fourth hand to lift Pebbles up the steps to the back deck! So, Pebbles is now in her new location, looking mighty fine. I'm dead tired though, so I'll post some photos later rather than now. I haven't unwrapped all the grates and the side tables and stuff. That will come later also.

I was showing the crate to my builder (a potential member of Team Whiz for this weekend) and said something like "it has oval tiles all over it". He got closer, looked between the boards and said, "Wow! I thought that was bubble wrap!"

Re: Ok, got a tracking number Well, I need 3 or 4 people to get it up some steps, so I will have to wait until Sunday, I fear. But my plan is to see if we can get it back out of the garage so we can unbolt the crate and lift if off. (The garage ceiling isn't high enough to lift the crate up and off the cooker.) Plan B, I think would be to take a skill saw and saw off the top of the crate so it is short enough that we can lift it off inside the garage. (I don't think I should try to tip it over on its side and slide the crate off sideways, LOL!)

Re: Ok, got a tracking number What would you do? Leave in the drive up against the house and covered with a tarp, so that you can unbolt the crate and lift it off, or, put it inside the garage, knowing you can't move the crate once the guy with the pallet jack leaves, and try to disassemble the crate in the garage? I'm leaning towards inside the garage. Update: well for better or worse, it's in the garage. We'll see what happens.

Re: Ok, got a tracking number 23 minutes and counting! That said, I have to confess, I won't be able to uncrate this probably until the weekend. It's gonna kill me.

Re: Ok, got a tracking number Ok, now we have an appointment for Monday afternoon. Woo hoo, as they say! The confusion lay in the fact that Road Runner was only taking the shipment as far as Charlotte, where they then hand it off to Wilson Trucking. The Road Runner site doesn't really show that, just multiple arrivals and unloadings in Charlotte. Anyway, Monday afternoon it is!
-
Re: Ok, got a tracking number According to RoadRunner tracking, "Pebbles" arrived in Charlotte twice! Once on the second and once on the third. She has been unloaded twice, once on the third and once on the fourth. Maybe dennis shipped me two!

Re: Costco Kobe Beef Patties It says American Kobe beef. Anyone compare these to real kobe beef? I"ve never had the nerve to order the real stuff, lol.
-
Re: Ok, got a tracking number That is too far into the future to tell. First thing is to photograph the heck out of it for an update to our review of the KK.

Re: Ok, got a tracking number It's in Charlotte now! Such fun!

Re: Ok, got a tracking number J, sorry, I hacked back in, got it straightened out, then hacked your bank intending to steal all your money and the bank told me I owed THEM!!! Sheeeeeyit! Anyway, the truck company website says it is in NC! Hoozah! I'll call tomorrow and see about arranging delivery.
-
The cooker should hit Raleigh on Wednesday, so we hope to arrange for delivery at The Naked Whiz Publishing Empire plaza for Thursday or Friday!

Re: Jammies for Esterdahl Maybe I could get a photo of me standing inside mine pretending to be an Autumn Nebula KK, LOL! I know, it is just a matter of days now....
-
Re: KK *should* be here by the weekend! You are right. I saw that later. I thought that cooker was picked up the same time as mine. I guess it was jealously, lol!
-
Re: KK *should* be here by the weekend! Tucker, the cookers were picked up on Long Beach on Wednesday, so it will be a few days before they get to the East coast. So far, Dennis hasn't sent us shipping details, so I'm not sure when to expect them.

Re: smokin cheese I presently use about 5 or 6 briquettes in a small pan and some thin slices of apple wood laid on the briquettes. I have also, when I am lazy, used Olde Barbecue Smokecones that I found at Ace Hardware. They come 3 to a pack, one apple, one hickory and one mesquite. I use the apple cone then used the hickory cone. They smoke for about 25 minutes. I smoke cheese for my trainer and he said the smokecone cheese was the best I had done for him.
