Those ribs look delicious!! For the smoke ring 5698k is bang on, its a chemical reaction. Put your meat on cold and start smoking at a lower temp at first. The longer the surface of the meat stays below 140 or so degrees more of a smoke ring will form. I haven't tried it yet myself yet, add some celery salt to your rub. Celery salt has lots of nitrates I was told.

Funny you mention that @5698k thats what I did and we all unanimously like bronze metallic so its settled bronze metallic it is.

How's your KK, is it all settled in now? It looks great. I'm waiting about six weeks before I order my own and I'm loving that metallic bronze!!

Did this have to anyone here, or is it just me. I was 99% sure I had my mind made up on a color or two then WHAM, I have a new favorite and its not one of the first two colors. I don't know what to do, I wish I could order them all...

@5698k I like the idea of keeping half the charcoal clean, in your example would you still use an indirect stone for the ribs.

Question about the baskets splitter. If using the basket splitter, is it only usefull for smaller cooks? If i want to utilize the whole grill wouldn't the indirect stone he a better option and then pulling the stone for searing.

You guys are too helpful. I thought it would take a long long time to make this decision, guess I was wrong. After I pull the trigger I have to start unloading BBQ's and one ChEgg (Chinese knock off large egg) to make some room, since they wont get any use.

CeramicChef- when I spoke to Dennis he said there is more of a saving going from Indonesia to Toronto just takes longer, so, thats the way I'm leaning. I was looking at the online store my current color of choice is not there, speckled black tile. @5698k have not ordered yet but I'm getting a lot closer faster then I thought. Im a little bummed out about the Canadian to Us exchange.

@5698k 6 weeks is pretty good, I was thinking it would be more like 2 or 3 months.

Does anyone know how long the journey is from Indonesia to Toronto?

@ckreef thanks...the more you read and see pictures of KK's just makes you want one more. Sometimes I wish I never had the internet. My road to ordering one is getting shorter, I'm 99% sure on my color now.

@CeramicChef thank you for comments. I will go with the 23" should be the perfect addition to my growing collection of kamado's. I have spoken to Dennis a couple of times now, very nice person. I always seem to come up with more questions, so I'm sure we'll be talking a few more times yet.

@5698k you gave some advice on another fourm, thank you. I've decided on the 23" and I do have a significant other my wife. Just waiting for the best time to break the news to her about getting the KK. Once she stops throwing her slippers at me then I'll ask her for her color opinion. I hope shes wearing her soft comfy slippers.LOL.

Hello all I started the journey to becoming a KK owner. The more I research the more I want a KK. I'm now looking for what will be my color of choice. I think I have it narrowed down to a speckled black or mixed marine blue(not sure if thats the name). Choosing a color is proving to be difficult, any advice. That all for now, hopefully I can post soon that my KK's on route to Toronto.
