  1. Thanks Dennis for all your hard work bringing us the very best cookers, dodads and a great web site. May you prosper for years to come.
  2. BOOKS OF INTEREST I would agree the two books I enjoy are: Big Bob Gibson's BBQ Book by Chris Lilly and Legends of Texas Barbecue by Robb Walsh. I enjoy the history and stories very much. Another book of interest is Steven Raichlen's book Barbacue Bible-Sauces, Rubs and Marinades. I know there has to be 1000's of BBQ books out there, but I think you can only get hints of how to from any of them. What ever you are useing to cook on there is a learning curve you can only master with trial and error. I'm not good on experimenting-I WANT A BOOK DEALING ONLY WITH CERAMIC COOKERS, so boys and girls get busy and do a KK BBQ BOOK and I will buy several copies.
  3. Hi to you. You will enjoy the forum as much as your new KK.

    EZ QUE

Good plan Cruz I would do the same if I already had a 40# unit. Can't believe you will have a problem with everything real tight. I haven't used mine (6" basket) yet, but think I will like the results. Also will at some point get the 8" basket that Dennis is now making. Question: do you see any difference using the roti vs rack cooking?

Onegrill 50# motor Hey Cruzmisl go to Onegrill site (above in Slu's message) on the bottom of the page click on 'MOTORS' then go to page 2 and you will see the 50# motor (4pm15) $54.95. Click on this and it will bring up more description. Then click on 'Technical Specks" and you will see 'CW ROTATION WHEN LOOKING AT THE BACK' (clock wise) And somewhere in this forum you will find a lot of discussion on the right direction the motor needs to turn. I think someone pointed out it needed to turn ccw(counter clock wise) if you were looking at the square drive--which would be CW looking at the back. I confirmed this with Joe at Onegrill and was told only the 50# motor turned in the direction we needed for our unit. I hope all this doesn't muddy the water too much BUT bottom line the 50# motor is correct for our use. Have a good weekend.

    EZ QUE

Yes It will work but it will unscrew itself if not tightened up really tight. The direction the 40# turns will encourage the thing to loosen up. It would be better to go with the 50# if you are buying a new unit. Happy cooking.

    EZ QUE

Warning! Be sure and buy the 50# motor from Onegrill. It turns in the right direction. The 40# does not. This is a real quality product.
  8. Congrats and enjoy for years to come.
  9. Hmmm so I used 2 chunks and don't believe it was enough. My first fireing and cook came off without a hitch. Easy to maintain temp. I did the Chris Lilly loaf pan thing. Good thing I did two chickens--granddaughter was having a fit to get on the lake and by the time we came back there was hardley enough to eat must less take a picture!! Note to self: get another loaf pan, two ain't enough.
  10. T Rex when you say to much smoke--how much wood did you use? Just curious since I would like to do a couple of Lilly's loaf pan chickens this week end(!!! MY FIRST COOK !!!) I'll bet I now hold the record for owning a beautiful new KK and not cooking on it.
  11. Reminds me of George Thourogood's song "BAD TO THE BONE" Looks great!!
  12. Dennis the whole world will miss this fine man. Sorry for your loss, but we can rejoyce knowing his rewards will be great on his next journey. May God bless and comfort your family.
  13. GREAT BOOK Hi Chris, while visiting family in Austin I picked a copy of your book 'BIG BOB GIBSON'S BBQ BOOK' great book, well done. It will be a constant companion for me and my Levi Blue KK. Good luck on your competition cooking this year.
  14. STILL LOOKING Calf rope, time out, I give up!! Still can't find 8" basket. Be nice and tell me where one is hideing!!
  15. Was I right?? Told you the Levis Blue was much prettier in person than in the pictures!! Was I right?? Enjoy.
  16. That picture thing is a puzzle to me, not sure how I got my KK picture on here??? I know some will have a heart attack when I say this, but I have NOT cooked on mine yet!! Bet that is a record that won't be broken in this century. Been out of town a lot and am in Austin, TX now celebrating daughter and grandbaby's birthday. I did go to the new Barbequegalore store in Westlake and got a big bag of apple wood chunks and a can of Pam (high temp) grilling spray. Very nice store with great people. Still think WHEN I do my first cook it will be chicken. Just sounds good to me.
  17. But the wait will be worth it!! Down a couple of big snorts of wine, go to bed and dream about that Levi Blue beauty. Good luck and happy cooking.
  18. GOOD TILE CHOICE Congrats on getting a new KK. You will like the Levis Blue Tile. It looks better in person than in the pictures. Enjoy!!
  19. Great Company --and we lived happy ever after, YEA glad it all worked out for you. T Rex you are probably like me, I was not going to order a motor that had to be Aggie engeenired to half a-- work right. After all we wouldn't accept second best when buying our KK. And yes Onegrill is a stand up company just like Komado Kamado/Dennis Linkletter. Now Dennis put a bug in their ear to design the baskets we need if you are not already working on that. Bet it can be improved and at a better cost than the bankrupted EZ Que people's basket. Hint, hint--still need the 8" one.

    Rib steak

Nice You are right, looks great on the grill. Who needs a plate!!
  21. T Rex sorry I didn't find out sooner, but maybe that will help someone else trying to get the right one. Good luck with yours.
  22. Joe not John oops it was Joe not John that gave me info on Onegrill motor rotation
  23. Right motor for KK Talked to John at Onegrill and the right motor (turns clock wise) is the 50# torque motor part no. 4PM15 price $49.95 + shipping of about $12. The 40# Torque motor turns counter clock wise. Placed my order today and should have it first of the week.

    Covering your KK

    # 1 reason for covering Baby Since I have no picture just look at Larry's and T-Rex's Marine Blue and you can in your mind picture my Marine Blue Cover!! Way to go Johnnyboy--real quality workmanship. I find one big advantage in covering--keeps some of my dumbas--d friends from monkeying around with my baby. If for no other reason for the cover this is tops on my list.
