Make a small house for Ralph with places for racks Etc, Etc. This thing is tall and strong. (Will move Ralph into it and post a pic). Really looking for input. Example let down table like secretary. Store KK racks through ends or from front. Storage for charcoal, wood, and cooking tools. I also bought a nice but small propane torch w/long hose ($27) from them to store propane in place. Hope this makes some kind of sense.

Good catch Doc. Looks like a fast way to remove product and close Kooker back up. I'll be trying it tomorrow. Neat.

WOW!! Looks outstanding!!! Didn't take you and Mable long to start working as a team. Keep the Good Times rolling.

Pensacola, FL Fri Jul 02, 2010 6:49 am I posted "Best seafood in the area is at "Capt Joey Pattie's" I am sorry to say that this was not the case on my last two visits, the last being today. May have changed cooks. Fortunately we now have another great fish house in the area. David's Catfish House 5129 Dogwood Drive (Hwy89) Milton, FL (850) 626-1500 -

I like the Vac idea... but with a COPD problem I am concerned with getting my ash around my head. Any advise on how to keep your head out of your ash is welcome.
-
Are there any actual gardening advantages to keeping the ashes in the yard? Our tomatoes have a bit of end rot this year, on a very precise watering system, and our analysis is that our soil needs to be a bit more acidic. Ash is basic, right? From my garden notes: Hope it helps you. 1) Ashes from charcoal burning barbeques are toxic from the bonding agents in commercially made charcoal 2) Tomato plants that were planted out in the garden before the soil warmed up are susceptible to blossom end rot because their root systems don't develop well in cold soil. Without a good root system the plants cannot take up enough moisture and calcium for the developing fruit, resulting in blossom end rot. Mulching your tomato-growing bed after the soil has warmed up will help to prevent blossom end rot by helping to maintain even moisture in the soil for the plants. For tomatoes afflicted with blossom end rot, just remove those fruits from the plant, maintain even moisture for your plants and wait for the next set of tomatoes to ripen. Chances are that the next tomato to ripen will not have blossom end rot problems.

Re: Introducing myself Buckle in good because you are in for a hell of a flight when you uncrate one of these puppies.

What ashes?

Re: is there really a difference Well said John Noble. The problem with the Komodo Kamado comes in when you must pick which Grandchild or Great Grandchild to give it to 30-40 years from now.

“Black Dogs†Florida Casserole 2 T oil 1 lg can baked beans 1 pkg hot dogs 8-10 1 T mustard 2 T ketchup 2 T brown sugar 2 T barbeque sauce 1/2 sml onion chopped Burn hot dogs on KK. (crisp black outsides) Heat Dutch oven on KK. Add oil, cubed hotdogs, beans, onions, mustard, brown sugar, ketchup, and barbeque sauce. Cook 25-30 min/until heated. Tastes great w/potato chips! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Angry Potato†2 # fingerling potatoes 4 t olive oil 1 pt grape tomatoes 1 T smoked paprika (medium) 1 t sherry vinegar 1/4 t cayenne pepper to taste * salt to taste Preheat KK to 375. Cut potatoes into 1" pieces. Toss w/1T olive oil and place on a cookie sheet in one layer. If cookie sheet is large enough place tomatoes on same sheet, otherwise put them on their own cookie sheet or in a small oven-safe dish. Cook tomatoes and potatoes 30 min/until potatoes are tender and golden and tomatoes are melting. Remove from oven. Transfer tomatoes to a bowl and add remaining 3T olive oil, w/vinegar, paprika, cayenne and salt. Mix well w/fork, breaking all roasted tomatoes into sauce. Place potatoes in a bowl and toss w/sauce. Add more cayenne or salt to taste. Makes 6 side servings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Carrots†1 2# pkg carrot 1 t salt 1 t sugar 1/2 c butter 1/2 c brown sugar packed Peel and slice carrots. Place in pan on back of KK and cover w/water. Add salt and sugar. Bring to boil, reduce heat to med and boil gently 20 min/until carrots are very soft. Drain. In same pan, heat butter and brown sugar until melted and bubbly. Immediately pour carrots back into pan. Stir to coat. To freeze: Allow to cool. Place in ziploc bag. Label and freeze. Cooking Day: Thaw - Heat and serve. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hushpuppies Sobotta Family†1 c self rising cornmeal 1/2 c self rising flour 1 t sugar 1 sml onion finely chopped 1 c milk Mix all ingredients together. Heat in small heavy sauce pan 3" of Wesson oil until it is hot. Fill a coffee mug w/cold water. Take a soup spoon, wet it in your coffee mug of cold water, dip it in your mix so you have about enough mix to cover about 1/3 of spoon lengthwise. Carefully let it slide into hot oil. If your oil is correct temp, there will be lots of bubbles around hush puppy. If you take a long handled metal slotted spoon and touch the just dropped hush puppy it will sink to bottom of the pan, it should rise to surface easily. If oil isn't hot enough, just keep trying. When oil is proper temp, dropped mix will bob to top of oil w/little encouragement. Turn hush puppies until they are golden brown and place them on a platter w/paper towels. It takes a little practice, but it isn't that difficult. They are best done in small batches. You're working w/very hot oil so be very careful and keep kids away from the cooking. Don't be surprised if for the first few min’s, hush puppies keep disappearing. The recipe makes enough for a huge crowd, probably four dozen or more. It does make something of a mess, but the good hush puppies are worth it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Onions KK†6 med onions peel 6 T butter softened 6 t beef bouillon granules 1/8 t garlic pdr 1/8 t coarsely ground pepper 6 t sherry optional * Parmesan cheese shred Carefully remove a 1x1" core from the center of each onion. Place each onion on double thickness of heavy-duty foil (12"sq). Combine butter, bouillon, garlic pdr and pepper; spoon into onions. Sprinkle w/sherry if desired. Fold foil around onions and seal tightly. Grill: Covered, over med heat 350 for 30-40 min/until tender. Carefully unwrap foil to allow steam to escape. Sprinkle w/Parmesan cheese. Yield: 6 servings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- “1-2-3 Peanut Butter Pie†1 9" pie crust 1 box vanilla pudding 1.5 c milk 1/3 c peanut butter Prepare pudding mix according to pkg directions. Add milk and peanut butter mixing well. Pour into pie crust. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Garnish w/whipped topping and crushed peanuts. -------------------------------------------------------------

Works great when used as base on pork loin and chicken then KooKed.

I have used this about every way one can imagine (on Food) It definitely has a place in the KK recipes. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2009 ... ecipe.html Note: The crisp bacon I ground with the "Magic Bullet" , and raked in it at the beginning of the recipe.

Re: My Cheapo hair drier... Coleman (I think it's Coleman) makes a unit to refill the blue bottles from a reg propane tank. Have seen them in Wally World. I think Ace may also carry them. Look Here: http://www.navagear.com/2008/04/refill- ... cylinders/

If you won't use it often for the kk you might consider trading for a small hair dryer you can use in the car to quick defrost during winter months and KK use as in quick and hot Kooks.
