  1. Oh yea.. feeling great. Will do again but run better fire start... to control beginning heat spike. Could be the KK answer to Sous vide
  2. I removed roast from KK at 4:30 temp was 127. I thought it would continue to climb to 130. It did not. Roast was Med-Rare, tender and juicy.
  3. Re: Low Temp Slowwwwwww Eye Round 1:02 Meat 107 KK 153 Guru set 89 1:25 Meat 111 KK 139 Guru reset 108 Could have high temp been caused by Guru overrun? Have full basket but only lit and added one piece of lump w/torch. Did add 1(1x3) piece of pecan. I am at sea level w/outside temp of 89 deg.
  4. I'm trying to duplicate info referenced in Cooks Ill. Jan-Feb 80, p6. Cooking roast at desired done temp could take 20-30 hrs. Resulting in tender juicy roast. 12:59 KK 152. Meat 106. Guru set no change.
  5. 10:20 am. Put 2.5 eye round on. Meat temp 55. KK at 99. Guru 108 12:02 Meat temp 97. KK at 132. Guru 108 12:20 KK 137 and climbing. Closed Guru vent. Closed top vent to just off seal. Plugged Probe hole (W/wires in) I want to keep KK below 130. Has anyone run a KK at 130 or below? Can it be done?
  6. With coal that size you should get some really big clinkers.
  7. I bought it and it works great. Used a online coupon for 20% off. http://www.harborfreight.com/propane-to ... 91037.html
  8. Re: Anthracite coal=best pizza EVER! One of these weed torches will light it. I know the one I bought today at Harbor freight will. It has a handle that lets you really crank up the heat. http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... 5333#35333 Do you plan to break the coal or keep it as chunks? What temp do you expect? This really sounds interesting.
  9. Re: New KK Cover Harbor Freight has 20% on line coupon Making unit $160.
  10. Good timing. I just got home from returning it. It only fit the small canisters. Fittings looked to be regular torch quality, just not a connector for tanks. I would have kept if looking for a canister torch. Going back to Harbor Freight tomorrow. Will check out: http://www.harborfreight.com/propane-to ... 91037.html Says it fits reg propane tank.
  11. http://www.chow.com/recipes/10986-chick ... sults_list The Pip'erade ingredient is a must. Yea I know. No pic = no cook but this was just to good not to point out and the "Pip'erade" will go so well w/KK Kookin. Note: I skinned, boned, and cubed (2") chicken.

  14. Over time will the Fire-Wire have negative effects on your KK?
  15. Great tool!! Had to replace the pit set of probes. Now must again replace that set. Advice: Stop closing KK lid on the wires. I use the input hole as designed but have the bad habit of laying the wires over lid seam on warm up and temporary product removal. The KK lid by design seals when closed. My bad. Don't make it yours. $$ (Corrected spellimg)
  16. For those of you headed my way (age) I offer this bit of lore. Keep yellow mustard on the nite stand. Eating 1T of it will stop leg cramps like right now. Not the best taste but Oh... the relief.
