  1. Wishing everyone a speedy recovery Dennis!
  2. NYE Dinner. A combo of lamb shoulder & chicken drumsticks cooked over CoffeeChar. Forgot to take photos after it had been carved sorry... Too many IPAs by then
  3. Yeah. It arrived on the 24th and after a few "unboxing" struggles, I managed to get it setup. Will post some photos in the next few days.
  4. Slow cooked Victorian lamb shoulder with roast potatoes. Threw in some brussel sprouts with ham at the end, but charred those a little too much. Cooked the lamb for ~6 hours at 120c. Used a handful of mesquite chips.
  5. Spoke to the structural engineer. He wanted some measurements of the balcony, a sketch and a couple of photos. In short, he said based on his opinion and a quick check of the numbers he does not foresee any issues. He did recommend that I position it near a structural column and not on the edge of the cantilevered balcony. He said if I do want to change the position, I should consult with the engineers that designed the building. I have contacted them several times, but can't get a response. Will try again after the new year holidays.

So I was searching the forum to try and figure out when I needed to use the heat deflectors.... Found the answer
  7. Thanks all. I have assembled a group of 8 mates - 2 tall and heavy, 1 tall and light and 5 short and heavy - they are coming over later tonight to test it out. @tekobo is that a suitable distribution?? @tony bIt is a cantilevered balcony, but I would have the grill on the side near where it connect to the building. That way I get good ventilation but also it should be one of the strongest points. Have reached out to the structural engineers and asked them to do an assessment. It will give me peace of mind.
  8. Good point. Have contacted the structural engineers that worked on the original designed of the property.... Fingers crossed they respond quickly and positively.
  9. I spoke to the property manager and they said it would be fine. They used the same logic (number of people)... It is a pretty large concrete balcony that seems solid.
  10. Hi Folks - Has anyone had an issue placing a BB32 on a balcony? I was reading the post about reenforcing deck structures and that got me thinking about the load limit of the balcony in our condo. Have contacted the property manager, but wanted to collect experiences from this forum as well. My BB is due to arrive in a few days so hopefully no issues.
  11. Just watched the boat carrying my grill sail past my condo. I was literally 1km away. Hard to get a good view due to the weather, but have been tracking on AIS for the last 24 hours. Hopefully they are quick unpacking the container!!
  12. It is only a three day transit from Surabaya to Singapore. Takes longer for them to unpack the container and clear customs, etc.
  13. Not sure I am ready for that just yet.... Might experiment with a few baked potatoes first!! This is my first Kamado style grill so it will be a steep learning curve. I have owned many different grills in the past but never a Kamado. Being somewhat limited on space, this seemed to be the perfect "do it all" option. Any tips from the forum for getting use to cooking on it? Also, any unpacking suggestions? I want to try and keep the crate as it will need to be shipped to Australia at some stage.
  14. Well my new BB32 departed Surabaya today. Should land in Singapore on Friday afternoon and hopefully at my house early next week!!
  15. Hi Folks, Got an update from the KK team last night and my grill is almost complete. I ordered a BB32 in Matte Black. Decided on the pebble as I heard they cook better 😝. Also ordered a bunch of accessories - cover, SS side tables, pizza stone, basket splitter, roti spit & motor. Will add a cabinet for storage once I get some time to figure out the design. Luckily I am fairly close to the KK factory so should have it in the next few weeks. A BIG thanks to this forum for the advice and tips. Looking forward to sharing some of my cooks!
  16. Mallee Root is also a pretty good option if you can't find Gidgee. In a pinch, I would use a brand from Bunnings called something like CharGriller. It came in a box with a white plastic handle. Was not bad, but I did prefer Gidgee or Mallee. This was in my Weber...
  17. Thanks Bruce. I appreciate the pics.... This looks great and I really like the sliding shelves. I have messaged Dennis to spec up something. Can you use the Roti with side tables attached?
  18. This is the type of setup that I am planning, although the cabinet will need to be bit shorter (1,200mm). I am somewhat restricted on space, which is why I was considering a cabinet (storage and work area) vs just the side tables. All these tough decisions 😛!! Can the side tables be used while the roti motor is attached?
  19. Thanks Tyrus and Basher. Thinking I will go with the cabinet. I can have it close by and I also prefer the grill being more streamlined.
  20. Hi Folks - I am about to place my order for a BB32. Trying to decide if I should order the side tables or instead go with a separate cabinet like this. I am leaning towards the cabinet as it will also provide a good location to store all my accessories. Additionally, I don't really use the side tables on my existing grill (Weber Summit S-670) as anything stored there gets quite warm. Would appreciate some advice/tips. Thanks, Ash
