EGGARY
What are your favorite Rubs ? I like using Rubs from Simply Marvelous, Dizzy Pig, Butt Rub, and John Henry.
LarryR
Re: Rubs I enjoy making my own, only bought one or two pre-made. What I like about this approach is I can control the salt (watching my high blood pressure and trying to stay off meds to control it) and I can tweak to my tastes. Generally get my recipes from BBQ books or forums like this one.
dub
Re: Rubs +1 for rollin (rubbin?) yer own. Store bought rubs are usually hi-dolla&salt-heavy. They tend to accumulate in the cupboard, too, esp. the ones you Don't Like! You can also start with, like,Lawry's and build from there. dub(add MSG,TLC and most of all,BS!) It's amazing Spice from this place was the game changer.. On average 60-80% more aromatic and flavorful. I order them whole and grind them fresh.. never add any salt to my rubs. For ribs and brisket, sea salt by weight, 0.6% by weight (thanks Syzygies
