I've heard of some starter cubes leaving a foul odor, so this could potentially be similar. I'm gonna stick with natural products personally. Robert Quote

tony b Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Bet they burn up fast, as it's just compressed sawdust. I'm a big fan of the converted cast iron Dutch Oven as a smoker pot. Search the forum threads to find the "how to" instructions. They are posted in a couple of spots. Simple, cheap way to extend your wood chunks and produce nice, clean smoke. Quote

Pecan wood is easily come by, so I don't see why you'd use some unknown substrate and then have to add pecan essence. Why not just do the deal with pecan wood in the first place? Quote
