Bar-B-Cubes

I just came across these Bar-B-Cubes and wanted to know if anyone has used them instead of wood chunks for smoke flavor on the KK. The videos and reviews look promising, but????

I would be wary of these, it says no binders or chemicals, but I'd have to verify this first. I've heard of some starter cubes leaving a foul odor, so this could potentially be similar. I'm gonna stick with natural products personally.

My grills get lump and they get wood chunk.  i don't like anything made with chemicals

I once used the weber fire starters and the chemical smell was awful

Bet they burn up fast, as it's just compressed sawdust.

I'm a big fan of the converted cast iron Dutch Oven as a smoker pot. Search the forum threads to find the "how to" instructions. They are posted in a couple of spots. Simple, cheap way to extend your wood chunks and produce nice, clean smoke.

It's that "with pecan essence" line that gets me. What the heck does that mean? Pecan wood is easily come by, so I don't see why you'd use some unknown substrate and then have to add pecan essence. Why not just do the deal with pecan wood in the first place?
