  1. Re: New from Sedona Hey Jim, welcome to the world of KK. You've just purchased the Rolex of grills on the market today. You will be amazed on how moist the food will come out when you pull your food off the grill. You'll never get tired off cooking on such a well built Masterpiece. I want you to know I say this as I am a proud owner of a Vibrant Blue Pebble KK purchased months ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Re: Hello from OHIO Congrats on your new purchase. If something were to happen to the torch at least you have a backup to fire up your KK. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

    Pork Ribs

Re: Pork Ribs Just an update, I cooked the ribs at 275, not 375. That was a HUGE typo error. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

    Pork Ribs

Re: Pork Ribs Tony, I added yellow mustard, then dry rub and placed on KK for 2 hrs at 275. Then pulled ribs off to double foil. At that time I added brown sugar, butter, and then honey. Foil and place back on KK meat side down for 1 hr. Pull off KK, take drippings from foil and pour over ribs and place back on KK for approx 30 min until done. << Optional, either mop ribs with BBQ sauce before placing on KK for the last 30 min or mop when you pull the ribs off the KK. Can even mop before and after. that's all up to you. The ribs are pretty good even if you decide not to mop with BBQ sauce. Next rib cook I will try something new. I'm going to try starting off with dry rub, then add brown sugar followed up with a little more dry rub. Cook for 60 min then mop BBQ sauce. Cook approx 3 more hours making sure to mop with BBQ sauce every hour. For this cook I will smoke ribs with apple wood or mix with pecan wood which I currently don't have. Pork Ribs

Here was my 3 1/2 hour rib cook at 275. I smoked with two chunks peach wood and one oak. In all the ribs came out pretty good. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

  9. Re: 7lb Turkey Breast I appreciate the responses. Next time I will take some pictures which will help everyone see what I did or did not do correctly. At least the Turkey came out tasting really good. I think the mad hunky poultry brine may have saved the turkey breast. Thanks all! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  10. Re: 7lb Turkey Breast I heat soaked the KK for for about 45 min. I also cooked direct heat with the thermometer never going above 350. Next time I will try using the HD and see how that goes. Do most people use the HD when using the Rotisseri? Still new with my KK, trial and error, but next time I should reach out for some help before starting my cook. 11. I cooked a turkey breast at 350 and wanted to know if the thermometer on the KK read 350 what temperature would the Turkey breast be cooking at the level of the rotisseri? What would the temp difference be reading at the dome versus where the rotisseri sits? While the turkey tasted excellent it cooked a lot faster than I thought it would. I thought it would take approx 2 1/2 hours and I pulled it off the KK around 1hr 50 min. The skin was dark brown when the breast read 161-165. Sorry no picture, I was more freaked out how dark brown the skin was and forgot to grab the camera. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2 Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Re: Peach wood chunks I really like it as well however the best smoke results come when you properly store fruit wood. I've been told peach wood will stay fresh for about a month or so by keeping it dry in the box shipped. If you keep it in the refridge it will stay fresh a lot longer possibly up to six months. Check out a site called fruitiawoodchunks.com. This site will tell you everything about the different hard and fruit woods. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

  15. Re: Ribs and Pork Belly Gary, I cooked some ribs and here is how I did it. I'm on the iPad and my pictures are on the cell phone so pictures will follow. This recommendation is for cooking baby-back ribs. Set KK to 275 for the entire cook. Use indirect heat as well and add two or three chunks of wood right before adding ribs to KK. Add you favorite rub and place ribs on KK for 2 hours. Pull ribs and place on foil. Add 4 small slices of butter across the top of the ribs, then sprinkle brown sugar all over, and then drizzle some honey over the ribs and foil. I recommend double foil. Put ribs back on KK for 1 hour meat side down. After hour pull ribs from foil. I like to add my favorite BBQ sauce and then place ribs back on grill, meat side up, for 30 to 40 min and your ribs should be ready to pull and enjoy. This is a great way to cook ribs and save precious time without sacrificing any taste. Total cook time is 3 hours & roughly 30 minutes. Give it a shot and let me know how you like it. 16. Re: Lump Charcoal source in Los Angeles Gary, let me know next time you go to get lump charcoal, I will go with you. If you ever want to go to pick up some Coco Char let me know as well. We can make the drive to Carson and pick it up from the warehouse.
  17. Re: New Owner Yes it is and it will fire up your Lump Char quickly and with ease. It's so simple to use and actually makes starting the KK fun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  20. Re: New Owner When I first received my KK I purchased the Looflighter. Watching the videos helped sell the product. After the purchase I plugged it in, pushed the button, and within 4-5 min or so the char was lit. After seeing a Propane or Mapp torch in action I returned the Looflighter, drove over to the local hardware store and purchased the MAPP Torch. I LOVE THE TORCH! Within 1-2 min the Lump Char is ready ready to go. If you try it there's a good chance your Looflighter will be gathering dust in the garage. If what you're using works for you then that is what is most important. If you try the torch please let me know what you think? Take care, Craig Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2

  23. Re: Cleaning the Tiles of a KK Gary, check out Mr Magic Eraser on Amazon. You an also do a search on the forum for Magic Eraser. This has been used in the past to clean the KK and I have used it to keep mine clean. Grant it I just received my KK only a few months back. http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Clean-Eraser-C ... gic+eraser Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  24. Re: Cleaning the Tiles of a KK Gary, per the KK manual, Caring for the Tiles and Grout Routine maintenance of your Komodo Kamado should include gently washing the tile with a soft sponge and, if needed, a gentle soap. Standard bathroom tile and grout cleaners may be used on your Komodo Kamado for stubborn stains. Avoid allowing the cleaners to come into contact with the metal components of the grill and avoid the use of all cleaners with bleach as this is very damaging to stainless steel Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
