  1. I hate to admit it but when i gave away by BGE i kept the rake that i used for that. It is great just a simple bit of bent metal on the end of a pole that can reach in and also move around ashes etc..
  2. Ok i have a 18 pound brisket picked up and will flavor it tomorrow night.
  3. Hopefully i will get the brisket tonight / tomorrow morning and will let you know. I will also graph and hopefully remember to save the temps so i can watch the stall and have a better idea of timing. I am hoping that the kk will help to keep it moist just by not letting to much air in as i wont be able to foil until the "rest" or the drive to the jersey shore.
  4. ooohhh bryan that is just cruel posting something like that. As amazon has it on prime and can still deliver for the weekend. Wonder how it would handle the sear temp on bottom grill. Only seems rated up to 500 c
  5. oooohhh CKreef that is making me hungry and i have just had breakfast.
  6. Thanks for that Tucker. Would be the method i would love to follow but timings just wont allow. Will be leaving at 1pm on friday and not back until about 11am - 12 on saturday. Then have to drive it 2 hours for 2 pm serving.
  7. CC i am with you Bryan that is huge thing to say in a public forum and much respect.
  8. Biffer the bbq guru works great.
  9. Perfect. So by the sounds of things on the right path just may need to go up a tiny bit in temp. Will try for the 210 - 220 friday and see how that goes.
  10. Not sure as not doing it for another month. Will do a trial run this weekend. Last time i did one at 250 it seemed to take about 8 hours. So was thinking that i would need to drop it a lot to keep it at that temp. Also why i am asking for suggestions Everything seems to cook much faster on the KK that i expect.
  11. Ok so i have a wedding coming up and i said i would cook a couple of briskets for the next day. The only issue with this is i will need to start them before we drive to the wedding and then come home the next day and pick up and then drive to the after party. Has anyone got any thoughts for a 24 - 26 hour cook for full packer briskets. Going to be doing 2 of them on the 23. will try to get both side by side. Was thinking of temp about 200 - 210. Should have the ability to remote in and change the temp if needed but would like to set up and walk away
  12. Bryan the ManCan uses standard CO2 cartridges so you just pop on another if it is going flat. They are also putting in a connection for bigger CO2 tanks.
  13. Tony nice looking. How do the keep it carbonated ? is there a pump at the top or is it CO2 cartridge as well?
  14. Well if we are wanting to open beer have people seen this kickstarter ? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mancanbeer/mancan-put-a-brewery-in-your-fridge-not-a-growler
  15. Tony i am with you on that. The number of times that i think i have shutdown astro to find all my coal gone in the morning as the bottom was still open.

    Fig wood

Yep MacKenzie the guy is an organic gardner and the tree was about 2 story's high up the side of the building so spraying didnt happen. The biggest danger is just city air and what the tree took in from that i guess.

    Fig wood

Ok so i have a neighbor that there fig tree died this winter and i have got the ok for grabbing the old wood. Has anyone tried it i did see a couple of comments in the web about it been good but hard to get hold of. Here in South Philly we seem to have a lot of fig trees and i guess i could keep a reasonable supply of it for a while As a follow up would cutting using an electric chainsaw put to much oil in the wood from the blade or just go for it and not worry rather than trying to cut using the table saw.
  19. Great looking ribs and Pizza.
  20. Dennis what is that plate that you are sitting the coco on ?? Did i miss a posting about a new toy Normally for that length of smoke i use my amazing smoker with pallets but that looks even simpler.
  21. CKreef what about a propane torch on really low to act as a pilot light for it.
  22. Dam ckreef that is some fine looking cooking there.
