  1. Hey, I've done Tube Steak many times on both Beauty! & TheBeast. There are few things better than a good old chili dog! At many of my parties where kids attend, I use Beauty! for kids duty. She's quite well behaved and the kids cook their own hot dogs and burgers under adult supervision. They just love manning the tongs! Hogsfan - I love your Dad's sense of humor! He sounds like quite a guy. Enjoy that Tube Steak cook!

  3. So, Hogsfan, exactly what have you planned for the initial cook after the burn in? You know you can always sear off some great ribeyes or NY strips after that burn in, right? Looking forward to seeing this. What a gorgeous KK! That blue is something else!

  7. If I could have gotten that color in the pebble finish, I'd been looking at a couple of cobalt blue pebble finish KKs on my patio!
  8. Waiting is the hardest part, bosceaux! And the closer it gets, the harder it gets.
  9. Hogsfan and Redstick - I'm my estimation, Scouting is of inestimable worth to young men. If there was ever a better program to prepare young men for all phases of life, I've never heard of it. I was in Scouting for a lot of years and never regretted a single minute of it!

  15. Frogs - I smear a light coating of liquid soap on the outside of my porcelain coated CI. Makes cleanup easy peasy.
  16. Tomahawk - what a feed! Perfection on a plate! Kudos!
  17. Tomahawk - its hard to overcook with Sous Vide .... You're just looking to sear the outside of the steaks; the inside is done to a perfect med rare, about 133° and it hits the table at 135°.

  19. Tomahawk - the 32 is a very well behaved cooker no matter the size of the cook on the grate. For small cooks, during the week, I just outfit my second basket with the basket splitter and I light up the lump! No big deal. Whether I'm cooking just a single chicken breast or I'm doing multiple turkeys, TheBeast is quite capable of answering the call. Of course, my 19, Beauty!, gets her fair share of small cooks as well. multiple KKs gives you a flexibility that most folks never get to enjoy. If I were to pick a starter KK and was on the fence about which to put on my patio first, I'd choose the larger size. My motto has always been "Better to have the size and not need it than to need it and can't get it."
