  1. Or maybe a 20yr Port and a Monticristo #2....
  2. Ok..however, there is no item with SKU 800-1001-014 on the GURU website that I can find...
  3. Can't quite figure out the "inducer tube" issue for the Guru...There seems to be two that are talked about here, the "bulkhead" and the "with threads". Here is the data from the Guru CyberQ II order site. Which item from this list should be chosen if I am just going to use the Guru (no stoker) on my KK ? I understand the fan issues. 4. Re: Rosemary Chicken I don't know that "subcutaneous space" has even been used on this forum before One wonders if that would that be the anterior or posterior subcutaneous space ? LOL
  5. Yep...Moist...My steaks come out so moist that I've had to mop up juice spots off the carpet after cutting that first bite...LOL
  6. 8" Baskets by June Talked with them today and they now estimating the 8" baskets in stock by June...
  7. WOW...didn't realize they came in anything other than Cobalt Blue Nice color however...
  8. Thanks Dennis...I'm confident it will work out...After my first cook I'm even more impressed with the KK...
  9. I've played with this for some time and the issue I have is that 2 of the 3 bolts coming out of the side of the KK seem to be too short to allow getting the acorn nut on all of them. One is longer than the other two which are so short that when I put the side table bracket on, the lower bolt doesn't go thru the bracket at all, ie no way to get the acorn nut on it at all...Seems like making the side table bracket and the rotisserie bracket one piece and then making the bracket curved to match the curve of the KK vice straight might help a ton...
  10. Welcome Sparky...You've come to the right conclusion...There really is only one option...Nothing compares to the KK testified to in the many posts on this forum. I struggled with a POSK 7 for several years and finally dived in last week...Did my first cook (pork shoulder) on my new KK and everything that's been said is true in spades. I stoked her up with a couple layers of Dennis's extruded coconut, lit two in the middle on the top and 18 hrs later had the most mouth watering pork shoulder known to man...Only had to make a couple mid course corrections to the top and lower draft doors openings ( I'm running manual right now but intent to go with either the guru or stoker temp control) but maintained my cooking temp within a 10 degree band with no sweat...You only go around once and my only regret is that I didn't dive sooner into the KK world...Here's my baby....ain't she pretty!
  11. Thanks for the pointers..I believe I got the 50# motor that runs on AC only...I couldn't see myself taking the KK camping...not yet anyway (LOL)
  12. Ok...so I'm excited...She arrived this afternoon and is already uncrated ready for final assembly caressing and staring...What a magnificent creation...My hat is off to you Dennis...what a wonderful thing you have done.
  13. Very interesting story about the U2s and carriers...I also heard that there have been some C130 carrier operations...probably in support of the SEALs or other black ops. Ahh...the F4, what a plane...I got a chance to fly one at Edwards during my Testpilot days. We (group of Navy TPs) were visiting the AF TP school there. Definitely a ride to remember. I only flew in the Navy the last 12 yrs of my career...The first 8 were in Nuclear Submarines. I was a Reactor Operator. I qualified on the Nautilus prototype in Idaho and spent time there as an instructor and them on USS Francis Scott Key SSBN 657. Following that stint, I got into a commissioning program that led to a regular commission as a Naval Line Officer and that's when I started flying. I had tours flying C1's on/off West Coast carriers out of North Island, P3's out of Barbers Pt Hawaii and then I went to Test Pilot school in Pax River, Md. I enjoyed it all, with the tour at Pax River the highlight for sure. During my P3 flying in the '79-'81 time frame I visited all the garden spots in SW and SE Asia including Mogodishu, Djbouti, Oman, Mombossa, Ceylon, Bangkok, Pattaya Beach, Singapore, Perth, Hong Kong, Cubi Point, Guam, Diego Garcia, Kwajelin and probably a few more I've forgotten...
  14. OK..thanks for the info on the Viking..However, I'm wondering what size Turkey you can get in the 8" basket? In my K days, I used the "meat hanger" accessory to hang birds up to 25Lbs...Somehow I don't see a bird that size getting in the 8" EZQ/VIking baskets...What's the largest Turkey you've heard of someone doing on the KK with the 8" basket?
  15. Thanks Jeff...is anybody using the Viking model basket? I won't be doing a turkey till Nov so there is some time to think this over...
  16. Welcome aboard. I'd frame that whisker...You made the right choice for sure...WOW, That blue cover is sure nice...
  17. Wanted the combo but it is out of stock. So what's the largest turkey you can handle with the 6"? Any info on when the 8" units will be available...I read all the threads, but they are a bit dated...
  18. Welcome to the KK family...We'll be interested to hear about all your discoveries for the KK...
  19. Thanks Dennis...will look for the accessories...Can't wait for delivery.
  20. Thanks for the Welcome K tales are legendary and mine are probably not unique at all... Hope to coordinate the KK delivery tomorrow and will have a PB slow cooking by Friday afternoon for a Saturday Bday celebration for my daughter. I've thrown bugs at alot of fish but never a tarpon...Looks like it could be fun though. I love to go after steelhead on the Rogue in OR and trout/bass where ever the opportunity comes up. As for airplanes, wish I did own one...My flying was all in the Navy. Nearly a hundred carrier landings and three years as a test pilot are the highlights. Those were the days...
  21. Hi Everyone...just ordered my new Cobalt Blue Gen II after a nice chat with Dennis...what a refreshing breath of air after many struggles with RJ and the K world. I am so excited to join the KK family and look forward to learning all about the KK from you all...I'm a retired Navy test pilot who bbq's 4-5 times a week...I enjoy fly fishing and Corvettes (Yellow 2006 C6). I look forward to hearing from everyone...
