Oooh Ron.  Does that mean you've ordered a 32?  What colour? Pebble, tile?

Sorry @tekobo I thought you were talking about a 32" purchase. I am still in a "discussion" phase as to will this be a toy that I lose interest in. To be fair I built a pizza oven and rarely use it as it is such a phaff to get going and my wife can see it in the garden :-)

@RokDok I only ever had the spit.  It is very versatile and can be used with OctoForks.  For my 32 I have ordered both the spit and the cradle.  As @Braai-Q said, it is expensive to get such things shipped to the UK individually if you change your mind at a later date.  Ask me in a year's time how much use I get out of each!

A couple of things to note.    It can be challenging to figure out how to set up the roti and you need to cut a piece that Dennis sends you to fit the gap between the motor that you choose and the KK.  There are threads elsewhere on the forum illustrating roti set up.  I didn't use my roti as much as I might because I found it really difficult fiddling with the sprung screws that connect the hanger that the motor sits in to the bracket on the side of the KK.  That is, until I found that I was doing it all wrong and didn't need to take the hanger off each time but instead just need to leave the hanger attached to the bracket and use the play between the two to slide the motor on and then tighten the wing nuts.  This video on the KK website will help you get over that hurdle, although I doubt that you are as mechanically challenged as I sometimes am.

    Ah @tekobo a 32” is on order 😆 Good for you ....

I see what you are doing there.  Giving me a taste of my own medicine, luring me into thinking I really must buy one.  No, no pizza oven here.  Famous last words.

The best feeling, eh?  I have seen photos of my KKs and just transferred the money today.  Next they get on the boat and start their journey ....to me!!!

I know @tekobo you are keeping it to yourself what your choices x3 are but when do you think that they will arrive in the UK?

It's like many things - beer making, bread making - it's not about saving money so much as it is about control of the ingredients and the satisfaction of making it yourself.

@tony bTo be fair, I agree, a big reason for not making cider again is that I live in Somerset, UK, where I am surrounded by small volume cider makers who make brilliant ciders.

  5. I could easily settle in to scrumpy country.
Ron have you made your own cider?

I made some 10 years ago, bought a press and what is called a scratter (a hand driven machine to chip the cider apples as a mush cannot extract the juice) and a day’s effort later produced 5 gallons of cider - so after all the effort I could bought this for £10 - do have all the kit and never did it again :)

Gosh @Ron Hixon, our cats would love that freedom!  Lovely view.

I reckon you are about 2.5 hours from where I live near Portsmouth.  Happy to introduce you to a real live KK - either my old ones on their own or my new ones as well when they arrive.

@tekoboI used to work in Portsmouth a lot as I worked for IBM and they were based out of North Harbour for many years - I know it well

  7. @Basher I like the Cobalt Blue Pebble. I also think that the Olive and Gold Pebble as well as the Matte Black Pebble look really good. If I was in front of them all, I could probably tell you which one I liked best quite quickly, more difficult from pictures.

My wife after she finished looking towards heaven, looked over my shoulder at my PC and said she like the Cobalt Blue Pebble, so that's a start :-)

I was just reminded of a great book: "Secrets of the Patagonian Barbecue".  It is full of food porn, pictures of gorgeous cuts of grilled meat.  It is also very macho.  I think the girls get to do the salad and the boys grill.  A great book to own if you can get hold of it as there is a lot of detail about South American cuts and grilling techniques if you are interested.  Stupidly expensive on amazon for some reason, can't work out why, but hopefully you can find a cheaper used copy.

Hello @tekobo Who is the author of your version of "Secrets of the Patagonian Barbecue" as strangely there are two books of this name, one by Robert Marin and the other by Hector Salgardo. Thanks
