Question for the group (and for Dennis)
Curly replied to Sominus's topic in KK Features & Accessories
I think so, but mine isn't a 2008 model. I still have a firebox/concrete ring. There are/were multiple versions of the lumpsaver... One was made with 'straight' sides out of 3/8" stainless. That's what I have (and it is wearing out). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it wore out prematurely.. It just plain wore out and the metal is getting ready to crumble around the 'hot' areas. Later, there was a modification where they used 'sloped' sides... The latest/greatest is the "firebox lumpsaver all in one" thingie... I just want the one that sets into the firebox that I have, whether it has sloped or straight sides... OK, I'll see if my (you have an OTB right) OTB lump saver will fit properly in my #7. I'll try to get to it tonight but I have to work on my tractor...if not then tomorrow night. The OTB and the round may have the same lump saver...not sure. Get outta here Did you buy 25 K's? -

Re: Good question.. Don't know why, but that struck me as funny. Yeah, I was gonna say that. -
Hmmm, I can't seem to find any vines other than the ones when you first planted them. Give me a hint...where do I look?
-
I always leave the lid shut too.

More pics LD, wanna see what they look like now. How long before you can start sqeezing juice outta them grapes...from planting to sqeezing?

So don't sell em. Send em cause he's Curly. Yeah, what she said...you prolly have a large room full of em and they poke you in the arm each time you go in there. Thin the herd dude

Curly are you asking me to send you deer horns? You know in Asia deer horns are considered an aphrodisiac. They are also laws here in the US against selling Wildlife parts. Now what did you want me to do? Check out this site and you might be able to get some. http://www.bigantlers.com/ I don't want to have any police looking for me just because I sold you some deer horns. Well, I did know that about some stuff but I thought antlers were fine, I do see them on ebay sometimes. I don't want those monsters, just the spikes or 2 points to make drawer pulls and cabinet knobs from.

No no no. None of that ugly stuff. We just meant that Purdy Thang is probably in control of the house, and, well, we din't want you get get the receiving end of an antler! Unless you count the Dog Princess hogging all the covers at bedtime, and taking her share of space from the geographic center of the bed, we're a peaceful bunch at my house. (smoooch, Curlydeer!) Hey, speakin of Purdy Thang, how did she look so "traditionally purdy" in the family tractor photo? Din't look at ALL like the usual pictures of her that you post. Hmm. Maybe you used a body double or somethin? Well, I must admit...the glamour shot I post for DJ took a lot of work. People aren't born looking that kinda purdy

What an awful thing to say

Leaddog, Ya got a box on antlers you can sell me. I need to dress up the cabin? No skulls needed, just the antlers?
-
Why? Has LeadDog been reduced to scavenging road kill? Whaddaya mean reduced to...you've never picked up a freshly killed deer off the road?

Re: Extreme Heat Cooking with the Q . . . it really works . I've cooked steaks, pork chops, burgers, salmon...lots of stuff at high temps...love it that way. -
June 3rd? I knew we had some things in common...just don't be thinking one a them things is my purdy one now...OK?

I agree, there is no need...maybe a leftover habit from his pre-KK days As for brining, it's not about the moisture of the meat, it's about flavor. I almost never cook (large pieces of) pork without brining. I guess I've just come to prefer it that way. I used a gallon of water and 2/3 C of kosher salt and brined it for about 20 hours. The water in the drip pan is definitely a remnant from my pre-KK days. That said, I do think that keeping water in the pan helps further regulate the temperature inside the cooker (which may not be necessary with the KK). It also prevents what drips in the pan from scorching and imparting "off" flavors onto the meat. =R= I've never brined anything...not even chicken when using ceramics, but that's prolly cause I'm lazy. That taste thing is definately an individual thing and you gotta do it the way you like it. I'd tray it but I may like it and then have to add another step
