  1. Re: Finally Arrived!!! COngrats and enjoy many a cook on it.
  2. Re: 2nd KK in Frisco I'll say lol. I gave away my RJ Kamado to a friend two days before my KK arrived. My friend phoned and emailed the "new" company to get replacement tiles...he is still waiting to hear from them even after sending them an email picture like they told him to do....I guess some things never change. Dennis I thank you for making absolutely the best grill in the world and I thank you for being a quality guy. My KK is worth every penny!
  3. Re: Best Purchase I have ever made bar none! You make it pretty easy Dennis; handcrafted excellence and superior customer service are a rare thing these days. Give people quality and combine that with excellent customer service and you have customers for life. Every day I use my KK I am more amazed at what you have engineered.
  4. Re: Deluxe vs. Supreme ? Funny..I thought OTB meant "have fun getting this thing OUTSIDE THE SHIPPING BOX when your get it" The shipping packaging is done QUITE well
  5. I want to say simply that if you are thinking of buying one of these beautiful KK's you should think no more. Dennis is the real deal and his product is simply the best in the world. I am director of consumer affairs for a large company and I can tell you that Dennis sets the bar on customer service. If your worried about sending money overseas, don't, it was simple, and you will never deal with a better company or individual. I have been lax in posting pictures of my Autumn Nebula KK. We have been using it about 4 times a week. I strongly recommend that if your KK will be outside, to get one of Johnny's covers. Not that your KK needs a cover outside but since you will fall in love with your KK you will want to give it that little extra protection. Here in Tennessee we had storms the other day...tornadoes. We had quarter size hail and the weather just skirted where I live. After it was clear and we emerged from the basement, instead of checking the house, I ran to my KK....YEAH, it's that important! SImply put, you will never regret purchasing the best grill in the world. Steve
  6. Re: Soon to be a new KK owner... YAY!!! Hi and welcome! Yes I want to hear ALL about your adventure getting that KK upstairs. We are building a room on to the house and luckily my builder was here when mine was delivered. He BUILT A RAMP just to get mine off the crating! Yes, it IS THAT heavy. But it is built that way to survive the Mayan New Year, nuclear attack, direct bomb hit, biological attack etc. Steve
  7. Re: Cover for my KK? My cover from Johnny Boy arrived today AND...boy is it nice! There are some very bad storms forecast for tonight and my KK is snug! Thank you.
  8. Does anyone want to get in on an order of Extruded Coco Charcoal in the Chattanooga area? Please let me know this week by posting here and then send me a PM. Steve R.
  9. Re: Too many Colors to choose from........ AWWW and that was the second one I was going to get......j/k Congrats, you are going to love it!
  10. Re: Too many Colors to choose from........ The Autumn Nebula color is the most stunning tile I have seen. It has a sheen when the sun hits it that looks gold. ANY color you pick and you will be happy when it arrives. These are the best built grills in the world bar none!
  11. Re: Rollin....Rollin....Rollin CA to oHIo! CONGRATS! And Welcome!
  12. Re: New Hot Grill Grabbers Those would be nice, even if the grill is cool. Dennis, I would like to have that. While we are wishing for things we would like, I would like to try coffee wood. Steve
  13. Re: MY NEW KK!!! The "dwell mothod of cooking a steak is to sear it on both sides at high heat for about 2 minutes...then turn both dampers closed and let it sit for about about 10 minutes....done, perfect steak. The dwell time varies with thickness.
  14. Re: Komodo Kamado is #1 on Google for Kamado! That's awesome Dennis! The KK really is the best grille in the world. I hug mine every few hours. I am sure the new will wear off where I don't hug it as often...maybe.
  15. Re: MY NEW KK!!! Grilling Groper in the cold up here on the mountain. It is going to be in the teens tonight. I love my KK.
  16. Re: MY NEW KK!!! I am going to go hug my KK now......it is snowing here...strange weather this year
  17. Re: MY NEW KK!!! Dennis, I ran a 10 pound bag of charcoal through it the day I got it and fired it up all night at 350 degrees. Then I did 4 cooks on it at 350-400 degrees. ONLY then did I do my steaks. So my KK has had an estimate of 0ver 20 hours at 350-400 BEFORE I did the steaks at 1000 degrees. I didn't mean to get it that hot but man this thing cooks. also...when I ran the first bag thru without cooking anything I went out that night and the temp was 500 and I panicked and turned it down a tad. I don't know how long it had at 500 but my guess is maybe 2 or 3 hours. . Do you think my break in was ok or did I screw up my KK? Steve
  18. Re: MY NEW KK!!! Last night I fired up the KK and put it through it's paces. I figured I had three cooks on it...in addition, I ran a whole bag of lump through it before my first cook to make sure it was cured. After three cooks at 350 I decided to do Steaks. I love my KK! With the top draft open and bottom draft open, I fired it up and came to check on it.....temp was PEGGED at over 700 degrees. I figure it had to be close to 1000 degrees! Crud, I didn't mean to or know it would get that high.....it seared the steaks nicely though and after searing, I used the dwell method. They were perfect. This morning my thermometer was still egged at over 700 degrees. Looks like I will need to buy a new one from Dennis lol.
  19. Re: cover for new 23" KK Yep! I just mailed my check to him today! Looking forward to covering my KK.
  20. Re: New KK in SIgnal MOuntain Tennessee (Chattanooga) YEA! Third cook on the KK last night.....I told my wife she is getting 8 days of Valentine Extravaganza...what that entails is that I will cook for the next 8 days in a row on the KK and she won't have to cook....a win/win right?? lol
  21. Re: My new KK (Miss Cookie) Welcome and congrats...Tennessee is taking over...I am in Chattanooga, well Signal Mountain actually. Maybe it is because Tennessee is famous for BBQ, who knows?
  22. Re: cover for new 23" KK Johnnyboy oh Johnnyboy, please answer my email....I WANT a cover so badly. I hate the fact it rains on my beauty. Dennis, I see a sales opportunity for you in offering covers...........
  23. Re: Cover for my KK? I got 15 boxes of the coco when I ordered the KK. You are right, there is a learning curve as it cooks differently that the RJ piece of junk. I do have a little experience with a Kamado. My first was a clay Imperial Kamado. No one told me in those days if you fire it up to sear steaks, it will eventually turn into a pile of dust...which it did all at once. Then I got an RJ number five. The top went bad in a week and it took three months for them to send me a new one even after sending pictures. I then got an RJ number one which I still have. The RJ number 5 was cracking at the joint so I gave it to a neighbor and found Dennis.....and all my problems went away. Dennis is a stand up guy....my Kamado is WAY OVERBUILT and will survive the ensuing Mayan end of days...in short I know I am preaching to the choir but my KK is probably the best purchase I have ever made. By the way I still have not gotten an email back from the cover guy.....
  24. Hi everyone. My name is Stephen Ruffin and my new KK arrived last Tuesday. It is an Autumn Nebula beauty. Since getting it I have been out of town and only had two cooks on it but I promise that will change. I will post pictures Saturday. I am happy to meet all of you.... Steve
  25. Re: Cover for my KK? Fcnich, Thank you for the info, I just sent an email. My new KK is beautiful...to beautiful to get wet. Pictures will come Saturday....when I get home it is too late to take pictures. So far I only have TWO cooks on it. I must say it cooks QUITE diffeently that my former RJ piece of junk. Translated...the KK is so much better insulated that there is a slight learning curve....translated further...my new KK is so well built. I marvel at what Dennis has done to the Kamado.
