MadMedik Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Ok, so I cooked my pulled pork a few weeks ago. Decided to make some pulled pork chili. I searched the Internet and found a recipe. It is quite tasty if I must say. The pork is darn tasty too!!! MadMedik Quote

Gunner Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili I do the same thing. Last time I used the recipe from Guy Fieri's Dragon Breath Chili. I just substituted the pulled pork for all the meat except the Italian sausage. Quote
smokeylips Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Guy's Dragon Breath chili recipe rocks!!! Quote
MadMedik Posted March 12, 2013 Author Report Posted March 12, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili The recipe called for 3 pounds ground beef and 1 pound pulled pork. I only used 2 pounds of the beef. Here is link to website. I love it !! http://www.bbq-my-way.com/chili-recipe.html Quote
Loquitur Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Here is a variation of the Dragon Breath Chili that I've made a couple of times and its really good. Great idea to sub the pulled pork!! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/guy- ... index.html Quote
ThreeDJ16 Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili We used to have a local dive Que joint that had great BBQ chili. All they did was make up a meatless chili with beans and serve it over a 1/2 cup of Que. That way the meat did not break down any more from being cooked again. Quote
tony b Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Sorry, but REAL chili doesn't have beans in it, regardless of whether the meat is Q or not. Quote
ThreeDJ16 Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Hmm, that would be called sauce then....if I am putting it over Que? Sorry, but I don't subscribe to that theory. Mainly because I just love beans. But to argue, it is called chili due to the chili peppers and not whether or not it has beans. Around these parts, just meat mixed with sauce is called hash. But that is a different story. http://kitchen-myths.com/2011/03/30/rea ... -tomatoes/ -=J Quote
tony b Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Not to start an argument, but enter a chili w/beans in a CASI event and watch it get disqualified and not even sent to the judges table. There's chili beans and there's chili con carne; not the same thing. I'm just sayin'. Quote
ThreeDJ16 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili Glad I am not concerned about competition cooking.....hehe . Doubt they would consider (pork) BBQ chili for their contest either, which is what this thread is about. So each to their own regional cuisine names and desire for it to fit into a particular category. Hahaha, guess you would really flip out over my Chicken Chili & Black Bean soup (but after trying, you would call it whatever I wanted for another bowl ). But nice looking BBQ chili (pic above), whether it has beans or not. -=J Quote
tony b Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Hear, hear! For what it's worth, I actually am a fan of the 5-way at Skyline in Cincinnati. Talk about outside the box chili!! One of my philosophies in life is: Show them the love, cook them tasty food! Doesn't have to be competition grade or "haute cuisine." Quote
Gunner Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili I have had chili with Crawfish in it and it was great!!! Quote
ThreeDJ16 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili That sounds awesome! Never would have thought to use crustaceans. Bet shrimp would be good too. -=J Quote
mguerra Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 Re: Pulled Pork Chili I have a pot of DBC just about finished right now. Ya'll talking about it got me fired up to try it. No beans. We used spicy venison pan sausage and pulled pork for the meat. Report to follow. Quote
