ThreeDJ16
Well, I wanted to have more time to write an appropriate post for the subject, but that has not come to fruition yet (maybe soon). But short story is as follows: I cannot find anything on the Internet that says there is a difference in standard size pipe verses metric - there are equivalencies for the common sizes as they are internationally standardized. I will post some web links below, but it looks like we should have no safety issues using our fittings with these burners. And from Tony's investigating, he has determined that 1/8 pipe seems to be the appropriate replacement size on the existing gas valve. I am hoping to talk someone into giving me a pretty close measurement on the larger thread where it goes into the burner?? http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/reference/metri ... s.htm#Pipe http://mdmetric.com/tech/tic1e.htm#cht8 I also thought I would re-post this nice gas orifice chart again for those who might need it for natural gas conversion: Low Pressure Chart: http://www.joppaglass.com/burner/lowp_chrt.html High Pressure Chart: http://www.joppaglass.com/burner/highp_chart.html
ThreeDJ16
Burner BTU Info?? Hey Dennis, do you have any BTU info on that burner? If we had an approximate BTU range for the burner, we could use the chart on the previous post to get an orifice drill size for anyone wishing to change to natural gas. -=Jasen=-
ThreeDJ16
I would also like to mention that Dennis is using a 3/8" flare fitting now, which is a very commonly used gas fitting in the US. This fitting will allow a much easier install by picking up a regulator & hose combo from lowes (you can usually find 3/8" flare or 3/8" pipe thread - get the flare). -=Jasen=-
gerard
I guess no one else is childish enough to comment but: Does it bother anyone else that Dennis, TC, and D_J are teaming up for orifice research?
ThreeDJ16
Damnit, you posted before I had a chance to lock this topic. It was to be an info only thread; oh well! -=Jasen=- Well, I take it back. I guess I should leave it open so folks with real questions can post to it. So Cal Cooker
BTU Rating I need to convert the burner for my OTB to natural gas. So I would be interested in the BTU rating of the burner so I can make the appropriate adjustments in hold size. Does one only need to change the entry orifice size or actually drill out the burner holes? Any help would be appreciated. Chuck

There are a couple of threads here of folks whom did just that. I will locate one and post it here when I find it. But from what I recall, Dennis said the burner is about 20K. Just remember, you can always drill out larger if it does not work, but it is a lot harder to fix if you drill it out too much. -=Jasen=-

DennisLinkletter
Re: Pipe Size Info & Orifice Chart (for NG conversion) I need to convert the burner for my OTB to natural gas. So I would be interested in the BTU rating of the burner so I can make the appropriate adjustments in hole size. Does one only need to change the entry orifice size or actually drill out the burner holes? Your burner came with two jets.. the one installed is for the LPG and the one included for natural gas. Just swap them out. The jets are small brass plugs drilled out. I can have the factory look up the hole size if you have lost them. If you unscrew the brass fitting from the cast iron burner you will expose the small jet. Only that needs to be changed.
mguerra
Re: Pipe Size Info & Orifice Chart (for NG conversion) Great service there. Including both jets. No need for the customer to have to rig a solution. I daresay there are a LOT of customers who have no idea what a jet is, how to modify one, or rig one from scratch. Nor should they be expected to. Good job Dennis.
