EGGARY
Is it possibly blue to just use the Vent Dial with the various holes on the right for smoking ? Will it create enough air ? Would like to get to 225. Which hole ? Setting for Top Vent.
Bruce Pearson
A couple of the forum members did some experiments with temperatures in positions of the top dome and the holes on the right side with the left side vent closed for 225 degrees the top should be open 1/5 of a turn and on the third hole. I know there is a way to see past posts but I don’t know how, sorry

EGGARY
So using different Brands of Charcoal can create different results ? I guess I just have to play with it.
Tyrus
I can't speak for everyone of how common settings and adjustments are made. I'm comfortable with the left side dial and can tune it in like a radio station for the temp. Dennis brought something to the table for us to try and make the transition easier however, I feel comfortable and if the temp flows north or south a little it's not going to affect your cook, let it ride I say. Like driving a car, your KK isn't much different once you get comfortable with it.
sfdrew28
I start with the left vent 1/4 open and one turn of the cap. Once temps hit about 190-200 I turn the top back to about 1/6 and use the smallest hole on the right. It stays right in 225-235 area forever.
