Indian Food Stuff

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all,

I haven't completely fallen off the planet. I'm still adjusting to a new diet and trying to find ways to fit some Q into it. In this case, if was a complete, delicious success... a little Tandoori chicken with Curried Peas & Tofu and Black Lentil curry. Yum! And before you gag on the tofu... it's really in there as a contrast to the spice and works well for that purpose. Hehe.

:P

So what's up with the new diet? The doc give you an ultimatum or something?

Yeah, pretty much! I got a thorough talking to by my doctor... oh, a year or so ago. And since I'm not interested in experiencing Type 2 Diabetes first hand and want to see my kids grow up, I decided to take action. I think the epiphany came one night when I was eating a tray of oreos while watching "Biggest Loser". Hehe. Irony.

The diet is amazing and easy and working... 40lbs down since October. Wish I could say I was halfway there. Almost, anyway. But it's easy and I am eating very well indeed. Just need to get more Q'ing into the diet.

But you may need to step away from the forums (again) lest you backslide badly from the food porn

Very cool Porkchop, congratulations!

I recently found an old spreadsheet I kept from when I did Atkins back in 1999/2000. I am currently at my lowest weight since then and also the lowest weight I ever achieved on that diet. Trouble with that for me was that if you go off it, you're... um, dooomed. hehe. The new diet (the YOU diet) is much much easier for me. It's essentially just eating whole grains, fruits, nuts, veges, and lean meats. Eliminating refined sugars/flours and replacing saturated with unsaturated fats. Veddy simple, veddy easy. For fun you might wanna try the questionaire at www.realage.com. Just a series of questions about diet, exercise, and lifestyle that calculates your "real" age versus your physical age. Amusing, if not wholly scientific.

So now I'm eating chicken/fish quite often, red meat only occasionally. It's not eliminated, just reduced. It's really a freakish diet for me because one of the things is to snack between meals... so you're eating like 6 times a day... I literally feel like I'm always eating and I'm never particulary hungry for any meal... and yet the weight just falls off. I say this now of course... check back with me in 6-12 months. hehe. But dang... so far so good. I'm going to need a new wardrobe.

Sure feels great, doesn't it?

well, i have my off days. more than anything i just monitor my blood sugar levels and stay away from carbs. i don't really eat b/t meals just cause its more of a pain for me than anything. i'm also hypothyroid; the whole "metabolic syndrome" enchilada. so, some days the ol' thyroid does some funky stuff, or the blood sugar starts doing weird stuff. you just gotta weather it, can't really predict it.

but my clothes are looser, my blood pressure is low, my cholesterol is low and i can eat all the pork i like! oh, and kidneys are doing fine, too.
