Wilbur - great presentation of your cook! I especially like the shots of the slices of the point as well as the flat. That money shot is over the top delicious looking! I particularly like your post game analysis on this brisket cook. You make some excellent points concisely and cogently. Bravo! Thanks for sharing this with us. We can all take a lesson or two from this post. Kudos!

Is the 32" Big Bad too big?

Dennis? The crate TheBeast came to me in was over 6' tall counting all the accessories I ordered with the 32. -

Tomahawk - ill be the very first to agree with you. TheBeast is not a petite little guy. Moving him from the garage around the side of the house was an experience. It took a total of 3 of us, a couple of pieces of half-inch oriented strand board, and a cooler full of beer to get the deal done. I'm not familiar with with the logistics of having to move a KK onto a roof top garden patio. Knowing building codes, I don't think a 32" would overload the weight portion, especially near a building wall. The limiting factor is the logistics of getting the 32 in place. No matter which route you go, 23 or 32, you'll have the finest, best looking cooker in the neighborhood! -

Tomahawk - following is the link from the KK website that details the sizes of the 32 and the 23 in a side-by-side comparison. http://komodokamado.com/pages/compare-grill-s-features-and-specifications About the only place where you might run into trouble is if you are going to use both side tables while cooking. They really increase the width. Heck, I've seen aircraft with smaller wings than my 32, TheBeast! -

MacKenzie - I'm decidedly NOT much of a baker, but even I can make this burger bun recipe! Thanks for posting this! -

Frogs - you're gonna love that 19! I know I certainly love mine. It'll be seeing duty tomorrow for burgers whilst TheBeast takes care of spares and a butt or two! It's OU vs Tennessee at 5:00 and were having a party! -
Poochie - I had a lawn maintainence business as a kid growing up in addition to paper routes. My lawns were perfect when I was finished. My Mom and Dad would randomly inspect the lawns I did, so I knew they better meet muster or there would be hell to pay. I'd have to refund the money and do it again. It was about the age of 16 that I swore I'd never mow another lawn whe I grew up. And I have kept my word!

Winters here in Oklahoma are generally pretty mild, especially compared to those in Canada. I keep my KKs covered when I'm not cooking on them as we can get some precip, but 8' drifts are out of the question down here. Most of my patio is pretty well covered, so I'm pretty safe from any rain, snow, and sleet. As for snow removal, I've got a snow shovel that I will use on the sidewalk in order to get my morning paper. The guys who do my lawn also clear my drive, porch, and patio. And Jose and the guys do one helluva job at a great price. Speaking of Jose and the guys, they all love the KKs. Every time a new guy joins the crew they bring him in the backyard and show off Beauty! and TheBeast. Jose takes the cover off and opens them up and shows the new guys all around the KKs. After a quick period of admiration, back goes the cover and the guys get back to work. My family has used Jose for lawn and garden work as well as snow removal for over 25 years. Jose and his family are just like family to us. Since my return to Oklahoma, I've used Jose and his crews. My brothers and I always through a party for Jose and his crews at the end of summer. We cook cabrito, carnitas, brisket, etc and we all have a great time together. So rather than spending money on snowblowers, we party hearty every year!

I'm so cheap that I used to park a small pipeline in my a$$ and sell th e gas to Enron! Cheap bastards still owe me $1.87!

It was a combination of both! Isn't it always?

MacKenzie - those colors are simply amazing! Stunning salad and lovely chicken. Ma'am, touch 'em all and take a bow because you knocked this one outta the park! Kudos and congrats!

Those are so very chewable bones, Poochie! Beautiful color on dem bones and a very nice smoke ring! Kudos!

I can tell you from personal experience that sleeping in the belly of TheBeast ain't all that grand of an idea! Don't ask ....

And bosceaux, now you know why I live in Oklahoma! Except for about 3 months in the Summer, life in Oklahoma is sweet. Lots of sunshine, temperate climate, not much real cold weather. All the best up all my good Friends north of me! We've still got low 90s here.

I think you just did!

I completely understand, RedStick. I use my AmEx card more than my Visa or Discover simply because I have to zero the balance every single month. Saving up for your KK yields a tremendous amount of satisfaction when you finally get it! Congrats!

One ticked off the bucket list: my ultimate cocktail

Trader Vic's Suffering Bastard isn't named after me, but it certainly could be! Great story, Oliver! -
Dennis has always been totally transparent with me in all my dealings with him. I've never once, not once, ever heard him say a single disparaging word about other cookers. He even advised me against buying certain accessories at the time I ordered my first KK. He told me to wait, get to know my KK, and if I was still so inclined, go ahead and order the accessory at a later date. Once you lay your hands on a KK, you understand in a instant why you don't read about any issues with bands, lids slamming shut, lids falling off, cracked fireboxes, etc. Those issues simply don't happen with the KK because of the deep thought that goes into the KK design. The KK is experience is very tacit in nature. People ask why we pay the prices we do for our KKs. I've given up telling them that if they have to ask the question they'll never understand the answer. I've been called an elitist bastard and worse. But that's the truth. They won't understand. They try a reductionist approach to a KK. The KK isn't merely the sum of its parts. There is a synergy to the KK that's not apparent until you open the latch for the first time. The KK is an entirly self-consistent system not merely an assembled assortment of pieces.

Received my BB32 this spring
CeramicChef replied to omegaman8192's topic in KK Reviews / Happy Campers
We gotta have pics! You do know that without posted pics, your 32 will begin to resemble a small table-top Weber Kettle by slowly morphing into that kettle a bit each day, right!? Its kinda slowly like letting to air out of a balloon. This phenomena was reported in another thread and the only cure is posted pics of your 32! -
Financing is always a good choice as long as the interest rate paid on the loan is less than the rate of return of investing the money in some other vehicle that yields a higher return of the term of the loan. There, did I manage to make that confusing enough?
-
Poochie - there is a reason I have 2 KKs! My Sons's nickname is Beast, so he gets TheBeast. My daughter is a former model whose beauty intimidates men. She gets Beauty! and the world unfolds just as it should. Did I tell you my area of expertise, if I have one, is Business Strategy! All that schooling and all those degrees finally pay off!
