This is a mystery to me too. How did you connect the two probes together? With wire? Like the others said, it could be a bad probe...even if they read the same on the way down Maybe you moved or jiggled it and it has a bad connection inside the wire itself. But do the cold and boiling water test with it and see what happens.

I don't have a shop vac.  I tape a paper bag over the vent door and sweep it in with a brush.  I rarely do a good job with the taping, so I do get ash leaking out the sides as I do it.  I don't clean it that often - I let it pile up until it gets high enough to start interfering with air flow.  

You can get a large round metal dog food dish that slides part way under the KK and it'll catch whatever ashes fall out the door.

This is what I use 99% of the time. The Shop Vac is used every couple of weeks but not really necessary.

A plastic dustpan that isn't very big...holds about 2 or 3 cups and a whisk broom.

It looks like it's been leaking for a while... especially around the lid clamp. And speaking of the clamp, the bottom part of it looks crooked.  Finally, the lid has an underbite with the bottom...or appears to in the photos. It may be an illusion. Before I would put the new gasket on, I'd clean that area up real good...gasket and KK and try to fix the bottom section of the latch so that it's straight.  I'm not sure how to fix the underbite if it has one, but I know someone who does. 

Mine is so old that Dennis included two sticks to rub together to start a fire in it. 

david, did you get the reducer with your rotisserie basket?  You had more space than chicken in your cook and the reducer would have help take care of that. I can't see the side of your basket but I'm sure there's two places to put the rotisserie shafts.  The lower one is to balance smaller loads in it.

I didn't realize it was the Pro model when you posed the question. I have the Fireboard Drive which uses the same probes as the Fireboard 2 (non Drive).  But as you read, taking the alligator clip off the probe should let it go through without a problem.  Or put the yellow end through if...like you said...it's small enough to go through the hole. 

Yep there is. Thread the part that plugs into the Fireboard unit from the inside of the grill. So you can put the probe in the meat while waiting for the KK to come to temperature. Then set the meat on the grill and push the "plug in" part through the hole. Then put a rubber grommet (included in your goodie bag) and you're good to go. 

Yes, it could be your age. You're just too young to get the knack of it in one or two tries. Those pebbles are really nice looking. Best of luck on your first cook.

You have it on correctly, Cheesehead_Griller. I don't know what that smaller screw is for. 

Are you burning oak in it? I'm pretty sure I'd get the wood burning version of a pizza over too.  The one David bought has the room I want in one. I need to look up the Allegro too.  So many toys to admire.

Beautiful kk, Caroline. You'll need to collapse the "box" that is in the center underneath the cooker before you can roll it off. Just make sure to roll it off on the side of the pallet where it is reinforced with a strength member.  If you look at the pallet itself and there's just a big empty rectangle on that side, don't roll it off there!  Look for the rectangle that has a support right in the middle. Dennis may chime in but I believe that the side that says "roll it off here" has the opposite side reinforced so you can roll it off backwards. If you take a photo of the pallet in the back, we may be able to figure it out. But I'll bet a dollar to a donut that you can roll it off backwards. 

All good advice. The ramp you need is the top of the crate the KK is in. It's pretty heavy to lift since you're starting at shoulder hight. You didn't mention if you have two crates...one with the body of the smoker and another with the lid inside. The lid weighs 193 pounds, so yes, you'll need help. Good luck and as someone else said, you may have a member here that lives close by what would help you out.

I'll never forget a commercial for Ginsu knives where the spokesman was bragging about how sharp they were. He said you could slice a tomato so thin that it only had one side. I ain't kidding. 

That young lady is quite talented!! What a work of art this cooker is. I don't think I could cook in it and mess it up!
