  1. Does anybody else find it interesting that although the KKEC was not up to meeting Dennis's expectations, it sold out?!?!? I've got some left at my place and I am not about to give it up! I am looking forward to experiencing the KKEC that Dennis blesses as his final product!
  2. Awesome as always Dave! Nice job on that segment. You were so busy touting the KK at the end that the news woman had to throw out props for you!! Now, weren't those grills just a touch shinier when you got them from me?!?!?
  3. Keith - You and I should get together some time. My day usually goes like this - Light the KK, make a rum and coke - put meat on KK- have another rujm and coke - eat from the KK with rum and coke - sit on the patio marveling at KK, light a cigar, drink a rum and coke - Sleep. Next day, repeat.... Of course I do stray off course for the occasional Mojito or just rum on the rocks if it is an estate rum!! Do former sailors ever get enough grog??!?!?
  4. An Observation... Hi Dennis - Thanks for the reminder that we all have to be careful when cooking with any outside grill! I remember just last year a buddy sharing with me a story where he rolled his gasser into the pool for fear of an explosion in his back yard. A fire brokeout under his gasser and was dangerously close to the propane line. He saw disaster looming and pulled the ol' Navy rule of "jettison the fire overboard!". He now cooks exclusively with charcoal. We may get a little surprise now and again, but it only helps to remind us to have fun, be safe, and we'll all eat well!! On the lighter side, makes a heck of a smell, doesn't it?!?!?!
  5. Welcome to the forum and the KK club! We will definitely look forward to pictures - Until then... "I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries." Gotta love Monty Python!!!
  6. Congrats on the delivery! Let's see pics soon!!
  7. My thoughts - If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! If your concerns come to reality, then deal with the problem. Right now, all is well and your next concern should be what is going on the KK next!!! Nice work on your KK!
  8. I think Al is probably the only one with the experience (in eating) to be a good judge! Good lookin' blue KK in that clip!
  9. Oh what the hell - with no electricity or NFL, who could blame the old guys for tying Bessie to the post and smoking the last few feet of her rope!
  10. The man that brought me into the world of KOmodo Kamado makes his return! Hi PorkChop! Your old web page changed my outlook on BBQ forever! Nice to see you back!!!
  11. America the beautiful founded on Barbecue!!
  12. I'm diggin' it - it's got that nostalgic look from the old wood ovens! Let us know how it works!
  13. Welcome aboard! Where in N. Va?
  14. This is the first that I have seen of this post - can someone scan in the pics and article for us? Thx!
  15. I had a bit more grease than I was counting on after one cook (pork shoulder). The grease made its way into the darn tube. I used several pipe cleaners (remember those?) saturated with Simple Green. Cleaned everything up like new and they glide like the day the KK came out of the crate! Give it a try!
  16. Doc - Dennis was referencing Rachel from the NBC show "Friends" I never saw that episode (or many for that matter) but the cast of characters was thrown down our throats from every media outlet - As for the ganja reference - well that is pot, dope, mary jane, herb, grass, weed, reefer, Aunt Mary, skunk, boom, gangster, or kif. I was going to list them all but a quick google search came up with 420 different references for marijuana. Who knew? You can find them all here: http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/str ... ntTypeID=1 After looking at the link, I have to wonder if Clinton, Bush, and Obama helped them to finish up the list!!!! By the by, I have 20/20 vision today, could probably use an eye checkup, but have never even held a marijuana cigarette in my hand. Just lucky?
  17. Well you have motivated me Dennis - I'm going out in search of some Mahi this week or next and will post my results - Both of your Mahi cooks look great!!
  18. Nice work and great cook! Great job on the pics too!
  19. Great fix! - And it looks terrific! I am glad this story had a happy ending. For those less mechanically inclined, I would take the insurance route against the carrier. I like that this KK came out just fine, however the negligence appears to be on the part of the movers and they should pay for the fix (which in this case should be a new cooker and the cost to transport!) Thoughts?
  20. Good looking cook Sanny and it looks like you got the job done! What else matters???!!!
  21. I'll echo Jeff's thoughts and repeat that you should check out the Guru calibration and check your probe placement. Lastly, for all, I highly recommend heat-soaking your KK to alleviate these issues. You will find that a KK brought to temp and heat-soaked for two hours will greatly reduce the temp differences between the power draft controls and the Tel-Tru. Just look at the temp differences at the end of a several hour low and slow. The temps end up being very similar between the Tel-Tru and power draft controls.
  22. Well, since we are entering another dimension of sick here; I guess we could hire Dave to cut up the pieces of the departed so they will all fit onto the KK.... Kinda makes you wonder if the BBQ Guru will need to be employed to maintain that high-temp cook!!! Wow - how did we get here??? It all started with saying the KK was something you could hand down through the generations and now the old owners are being cremated?!?!?! We need help people!!!
  23. Oh c'mon - Somebody bite already!!!! That is just toooo damn funny!!
