(Not that you don't want $4000+ for payment, but it's not likely to happen, eh? ) Also, would you mind posting pricing for some of the bigger "non-standard" accessories? Right now, I need pricing for the Teak Tables at your earliest. Thx, Wayne
  2. Dave - I have nothing but praise for that spot - Nice Work!!!
  3. Hopefully this thread will help... http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... light=leak
  4. So with the input you have so far, which way are you leaning on the grid direction Dennis? If front to back on the Upper/Sear Grill makes sense, then maybe a taller lip around the bottom of the Upper Grill is in order. This way, if folks are chasing a hamburger with the Upper Grill flipped over (Sear Grill in use) the lip will stop the burgers from heading into the fire! Thoughts?
  5. Heh Heh - That's classic! Nah, I know how picky Dennis is and I figured the little chip just got past his eagle eye!
  6. Hi Dennis - Call me picky but I think you should replace the Matte Terra Cotta tile with a new sample tile. The one in the picture has a chip out of the top right corner - Just an 'fyi'!
  7. Dennis - I think you see a lot of grills with front to back grid designs because it is cheaper. Most use a thinner grade grate that would never hold up if the rods were left to right. The grid goes from front to rear for the support of the thinner grate rods. Shorter distance, stronger surface. Having said that, there is some wisdom to having the grids go front to back for one reason that I can think of - hamburgers. That's about it. I literally use tongs or gloves for everything else. So, that being the case you could offer a compromise. Continue to ship the Main grill with left to right grids. This also keeps the "trap door" design intact for adding more lump during a cook. Then on the Upper Grill/Sear Grill, make that grid design front to back. Now you can drop that Sear Grate down and flip those burgers. If you use it as the Upper Grill, it won't make a difference which way the grid pattern runs. This allows for both grid designs to be shipped and each with a purpose. Thoughts?
  8. Interesting comment on the EZ-Que - didn't adding the spring to the one shaft address that issue? Is this a different issue that needs addressed? Thx!

    AAARRGGH

It's not such a bad video - I like the part where she says, "Oooo, Mmmmm, the meat is sooo tender!"
  10. Oh sure - That's how you play! I gotta get myself edumacated on how to post pics in this here darn forum! lol
  11. Gerard - Here is the number (UPC Code) off of my latest bag of Royal Oak lump from Walmart: 16800 22812 It is marked as "Royal Oak 100% Natural Wood Charcoal" and it is a 10 lbs bag. Hope this helps!
  12. Hi All, Here is a coupon code, "NBNS8", (drop the quotes of course!) for 15% off of your next purchase from Tel-Tru; or perhaps better known as the company that makes the thermometer on your KK! The code is only good for purchases made through the internet and expires at the end of April, '08. Better hurry! Enjoy!
  13. Hey, what's the record for replying to one's own posts?!?! Am I close? Here's a great site to find just about every competition out there: http://www.bbqcontestinfo.com/ No surprise that I found that site by going to the grand daddy of all the BBQ Forums: http://www.thebbqforum.com/ Just the same - I like it in our corner right here! Have fun and get out there to a show or contest - these are really great people to meet and they feed you!! Anybody on this forum competing this year? Heck, if we can figure out a way to get several Komodo's to one competition, we will easily win for best dressed!
  14. All - Thanks for your tips. I was able to find the Royal Oak lump charcoal at my local Walmart. Curiously, it was not out in the garden center with all the bags of briquettes. I found the lump charcoal inside where the "yearly" garden stuff is kept. I'll start my shopping for the smoking wood chunks this weekend. We have a "BBQ" Store, but where they are awesome at stocking rubs, sauces, and gasser parts, they are OK at the charcoal part at best... I'll keep you posted!
  15. Hmmmmm.... Lots of interesting banter but I really just looked at the end as a punch line! Damn Funny!
  16. Hey Whiz (and All) - Where are you finding those "fist sized chunks" of select woods? All I can find in my area is mostly chips. Good smelling, but small chips just the same. While we are talking about smoke - anyone ever try the Jack Daniels barrel chips? How are they for KK'n? Thanks!
  17. reck_law wrote: Someone was bound to respond to this so I figured it might as well be me! Reck - You are going to want to reverse #3 and #4 on your list. Definitely set up the Guru first, get your temp settled in and then toss on the loin - after a good rubbin' that is! Of course, what you do with your loins in the privacy of your home is certainly up to you! lol Just didn't want to see a perfectly good loin go to waste! Of course, you've got #5 down pat and THAT is the important one! Have a good cook!
  18. heh heh, yeh, Shotgun FRED! It was a long day - I'll tell u about it sometime. Suffice to say I got to know the crew... I did see where you admin at their site - I like your Avatar from here better! lol
  19. All good points gents! That must be why I got a DigiQII today at the MABA event in Lancaster, PA. I hung with Shotgun Larry, BBQ Bob, Kenny, and Brent. All great guys. Deej - a little insight - be patient and BBQ Guru will grant your wish on a LAN controlled ATC. Rest assured, the BBQ Guru guys are not letting any grass grow under their feet! It will be SWEET and probably available in the next 6 months or so... BBQ Competition season is coming up so you know where their attention will be! (but you didn't any of this from me!)
  20. I don't know Deej - I have been checking this thing out from head to toe. Turns out that the web client built into the Stoker can be accessed from outside your private LAN. Just gotta play with the Router settings. I have heard reports from people using the web client bundled with the Stoker and the software from Amir to send alerts to wireless devices, change settings using their data-enabled cell phones, etc. I like the Procom, but this gives you an infinite range as opposed to 600 ft. line of sight! Also, with Amir's program you can save cooks. Now you can look back at how long that 14 lb. turkey took to cook and at what temp. you used! I'm leanin' towards the Stoker right now but still doing homework. I'll meet up with the Guru guys tomorrow at the MABA show in Lancaster, PA.
  21. Deej - looking at the Benzomatic here: http://www.amazon.com/BernzoMatic-TS400 ... 979&sr=8-2 It seems like you could just extend the tube portion of the torch. The igniter is back at the base. Do you think this would work? Would not have to worry about the igniter wire any more? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
  22. I checked out the golfclub from bbqguru and liked it for the ability to light the charcoal and move just the flame head around the pit. The flexible hose is a plus there but it has obvious drawbacks, eh? If the end-user is not careful, that tube catches fire and life is not good! But the same could happen to the wire going from Deej's tip igniter. Bottom line, use common sense and tend the pit when the pit ignitor is in use! That being said, the guru golf club is a product you can buy today and Deej's is for him to show off! - (for now?) Let us know your plans to sell Deej - I like the all-in-one ignitor idea and would like one for my home use. The other options listed on the guru club are negligible... but a good product for the purpose of lighting a pit!
  23. So a production model is in the works? C'mon Dennis, er Jasen (lol) how long 'til you've got a model you might consider sellin'? I know you like to tinker just for tinkerin's sake, but I think you are on to something here and would like to check one out myself. Providing that it is not cost-prohibitive?
  24. Looks great too! Very cool My only concern is with the material that covers the "spark" wire. Any chance of that igniting/melting/ etc.? Otherwise, build a couple and put 'em for sale here. Heck, I think I would check one out!
  25. It's official - MacGyver WISHES he was Deej!! OK M.D. of the BBQ - when do you start packaging these up for sale?!?!? Seriously - very creative and nice work!!
