  1. Thanks for the video Chris! And congratulations on your Top 10 finish! 6th place out of 65 of the best teams in the nation is a great accomplishment! Good luck at the Royal!!
  2. I hope this link continues to work long into the future. This guy put quite some time into his post. I like the idea of using a foil pan as opposed to just foiling the brisket. Would make poking the brisket at intervals much easier as we check for "doneness" My wife has one of those aluminum cake pans with a lid that slides on and provides a tight seal... I wonder where she keeps that...
  3. Making Pizza with Chril Lilly I know Dennis posted the quick video from a blogger earlier, but here is the whole series of videos where Chris makes a unique pizza at Kingsford University: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsyK3mnAeok http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHfv25Bh ... re=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v0Ob3d7 ... re=related Looks like they have fun down there! Not everything goes perfectly during the prep, but it all comes out great in the end! Thanks Chris!
  4. Now THAT is an innovative mod! Nice work! How did that chicken turn out?
  5. Good job on the spatchcock chicken - it is one of my favorites! I can honestly say, my chickens cook a bit faster than 4 or 5 hours and we cook at the same temp. Were you just looking to have them fall off the bone? Thanks for the pics!
  6. Heh Heh - yours gets more use than mine does just by way of your napping dog!
  7. How are you gonna post the pics if your wife wouldn't let you bring it into the bedroom?!?!?
  8. Congrats on the arrival! Let's see some pics of your new KK and while you are at it, post some pics of the plugs you are talking about. I don't have a clue...
  9. I'm just waiting for Tucker to get tired of his roll-a-way cabinet that he handmade with an inlaid granite top... Or the perfect opportunity to snatch that little treasure up for myself!! http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... c&start=30 That's right Tucker, it's been since Sept. '08 and I haven't given up yet!
  10. Here you go! http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1336 http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3400 And both were found here: http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=29 Don't forget to post pics!!
  11. Don't beat yourself up too hard Doc - no value in it - We have all done this. At the end of the day, I find that just closing down the KK is the best way to snuff that fire down and extinguish as much of the burning coals as possible. Takes a bit of time, but you can get your temps down where you want them after an accidental over-lighting of the coals...
  12. That turned out to be a great idea FM! Nice turnaround on your part Dennis! One comment, I would suggest moving the hangers closer to the outside of the table frame. This will accomplish two things - 1) You will have less of the table and frame sticking up from the mounting bracket. This will allow for the bulk of the table to sit down in the curved area at the base of the KK. Johnny will end up using less fabric to cover the stowed table(s) when making the Jammies. 2) If the hangers are moved as close to the outside bolt hole as possible, then the hanger will be exposed enough to hang some tools from while cooking on the KK. Now the hanger is important because it stows your tables and when in the upright and usable position, you can use it to hang your spatula, tongs, etc... Perhaps better yet, does it make sense to put some stainless steel hooks on the table arms to hang multiple tools from when the tables are in use? 4 or 5 hooks would be plenty on the front facing table support to hang everything needed to cook on the KK! Just a thought... One last comment - I am about 99% sure that one of the brackets will fit underneath the Jammies that were designed for the "naked" KK. That same cover will not fit with the stowed table. Sorry, at least I am sure of that in my case. Both brackets may fit under the same Jammie designed for the "naked" KK, but I am not certain on that. For that we will need a measurement. (Or a trial run which I am still happy to do!) lol Hey Johnnyboy - You may want to consider a retrofit kit for the Jammie owners that already invested in a cover but now need it expanded to make room for the new toys! Nice work Dennis and Good thinking FM!
  13. Good pic vkl! I can tell you just by looking at your pic that your cover is much larger in circumference than my cover. My cover was made to fit the "naked" KK (that is, no tables). My cover would never make it past the folded tables. Now, the new brackets for the Rod-n-Tube tables, it might... just waiting on those brackets to arrive from Dennis.... Should be any day now... (of course he is sending the tables too just so we can see how great the new brackets AND tables look!!!)
  14. Nice cook! - Thanks for sharing the pics!
  15. Thanks for keeping us updated Dennis - Please wish your grandparents well!
  16. Nice pics T-Rex - Thanks for sharing! Thank you too Mrs. T-Rex - good lookin' pie!!
  17. Welcome bsskate! You've come to the right place - Although I would suggest ordering that KK now... Summer is all but here and the livin' is good with a KK in the backyard!!
  18. OK Dennis - for the good of the KK community, I will be the guinea pig... Please go ahead and send me a Rod-n-Tube table for the left hand side of the KK as you face the KK. I will then go through the arduous task of mounting the table (should take about 5 mins., but I'll be OK) and then I will see if my standard Jammies fit over the mount. If you must task me with checking to see if two mounts will fit under the Jammies, well... OK. I will do this for the benefit of the KK forum members! Heck, for two side tables, I'll even take pictures!!!!
  19. Those newer tables look fantastic Dennis. Just a thought for all of us that have already purchased "Jammies" for our KK's - these new Rod-n-Tube tables would be easily removed and then the Jammie will fit right over the piece that stays on the KK. Johnny Boy can step in here, but I think my Jammies would be a tight fit over the folding tables. No worries with the removable tables! Thanks Dennis!
  20. Congratulations on your purchase - post some pics as soon as you get a chance and welcome!
  21. I've found some rocks in my Royal Oak from time to time. Interestingly, Wegman's lump is Royal Oak in a Webman's bag (Thanks Whiz!) - but it costs less and I have not found any rocks yet...
  22. Took a look at the site - turns out that they have a stainless "pebble" tile much like that used on the newer KK's. I like the standard square tiles and the stainless makes it look amazing! There is something off about a stainless steel pebble.... Is there much of a weight difference between the two tiles? That could play into shipping costs...
