That would be fantastic! Don’t need until late January, so a bit of time. Let me know what I owe ya. Much, MUCH appreciated.

I have this pic from Dennis regarding the plywood boxes I need to raise the boys off their legs for transport. Two questions: Does anyone have these left over from a move that they’d be willing to share or sell? I need one for a 23 and another for a 32. Has anyone used anything else for the stand? My move will be only 100 miles. Not a big deal to make the boxes, but have about 694 other things on the list, so a time saver would be welcome.

I’m feeling the need to try their lamb. I bet it’s not baaaaaaaaad.

Having devoured multiple Porter Road chicken products, I think they are definitely a winner. Chicken pieces are all meaty and very well trimmed. Very reasonable option for online fowl. Now I’ll have to try some cow or pig. But great so far.

Yeah, it's very hard to imagine that price for a Kamado that is much smaller than a 32, doesn't have rotisserie, and I don't see a pizza stone there either. It's biggest claim is that the shape promotes "offset" fires -- bad wording invoking images of an offset smoker. Should say "two-zone", but a 32 with a basket splitter does that and more. Heck, a Kamado Joe with Divide and Conquer will give you that much AND rotisserie option AND pizza stone AND...a MUCH lower price. Unless there's more than meets the eye, you are paying for the Kalamazoo label, not the grill.

Wait a minute...the links say Masterbuilt now owns Kamado Joe too?! That means Masterbuilt owns both Primo and KJ. What the hey? Edit: Oh wait...never mind...I somehow equated Masterbuilt with Broilmaster. Masterbuilt is the electric smoker people. Wow. That's...a weird marriage. Masterbuilt and KJ.

I'm just wondering what "hooping" is...I'm guessing it doesn't involve basketball. -
Very interesting. Don't know much about Broilmaster, and apparently Amazing Ribs doesn't either since none of their grills are rated.

Rutabaga casserole sounds delicious. Haven’t had rutabaga since I was a kid and my mom would serve it with pork roast. Now I’m going to have to go find a recipe...unless, of course, you post one...

@tony b - where did you find pimento wood?

Awesome! I’ve done 100% naturally leavened focaccia without issue, so would expect similar should work here too. My starter is fed fresh milled whole grains which tend to make it hyperactive. Can’t remember the last time I used IDY with my sourdough.

That’s what we were saying. If a secondary effect from a subtropical storm hundreds of miles away can do that much, imagine a full blown hurricane. Still lots of damage from Dorian down there, so for the residents I’m sure this was nothing. We’ve had a lot of adventures on the Outer Banks, but this was definitely a new one.
-
Ah...you went off book by skipping the IDY. Good call. And?? The verdict?

Well that ended up being a bit more adventure than our usual. Had some midweek weather, then the water started rising. Higher, higher.... Apparently caused by Sub-tropical storm Melissa, hundreds of miles away in the Northeast. Friday we meandered over to the ocean side of the island, and the ocean was doing this: And driving through this: Then we noticed that Highway 12 -- the only route on or off the island, was closed due to ocean overwash and breached dunes making it impassable. Uh oh! We decided to try to leave Hatteras Island that night if the road opened. It didn't. This was us sitting in the line waiting for the road to open. Never did that night. We were supposed to checkout by 10 AM yesterday, but the road was still closed. Crikey! We monitored news reports all day and decided to play the odds late yesterday afternoon, or risk being stranded until Monday. Finally, they opened the road at 6 PM, and we snaked past the breach and deep water around 7:00, just 60 minutes before high tide. Off the island around 8, then the breach reopened and briefly closed the road again at 9. Whew! Always a great adventure at OBX!

Pretty sure this is the tea I used for tea smoked duck once upon a time.

It comes in tubes??

THAT looks awesome. Awright, you’re pulling me down the Sicilian rabbit hole.

I saw the pics. Report!

No Walmart on Hatteras Island, but did spy a Smokey Joe at Ace Hardware.

No, not my KK. On vacation down in OBX weeks after Hurricane Dorian swept through. All’s well other than some interesting land features left behind... ...and that the grill at our rental was destroyed. So...we brought a load of meat to grill, but are without said grill. I DID bring my Grill Grates, which I usually put on the surface of the nasty, uncleaned grill at our rental. I had planned a Grilled menu of and brought all the fixings for: Sliders Maple Sriracha Drumsticks Pork tenderloins as Greek Souflima Need to call an audible and learn how to use a kitchen. One thought...put the grill grates in the oven, put a drip pan on rack below. Use the broiler as needed for “char”. Other ideas? I leave you with sunset.

Beets on burgers. Brilliant! Pickled beets or just roasted and sliced? Next thing you know, people will be dipping fries in something other than ketchup...

Well...you are a KK'er now. Passion, obsession, and other disorders are all part of it!
