The burner heat soaks the KK fairly quickly. The only time I tried to cook when the burner was in the machine I had the KK heat soaked and the burner shut off with only the Cold Smoker going into the KK. I was cooking some pork chops that came out great with the maple smoke. The gas burner produces a very wet heat and I can honestly say that if you just want to light the charcoal the best way is a mapp gas torch. By using a torch to light the coals you can like a small amount or a large amount at your choice of positions in the KK AND as many lumps as you wish. With the big burner you would have no choice, just a big flame lighting everything.

I tapped a hole for the set screw si the collar would not turn on the shaft and then i tapped 2 holes to correspond to the 2 slots on the Cold Smoker bracket. -

I think you did Jeff. Mine is bent to make the Cold Smoke chamber more vertical, I think. JohnA, you could make a tighter fit one but mine too is sloppy and it works just fine. What I did add was another collar, like a Stop Collar, to stop rotation of the mounting bracket on that smoke tube. -
Since the 15psi regulator did the same thing and I switched to a 0-40psi regulator I can try the lower gas settings by backing off the prunes and bran Seriously, I will lower the adjustable regulator as far as possible and work my way up. I might make a suggestion to you Dennis, list what "High Pressure" that you recommend really is. 5psi,,,10psi,,,15psi greater?? Inquiring minds need to know. Dennis, this is the regulator that I am currently using. So, when I turn down my "High pressure" monster here are some of the flames I get. The photos of the burner cap on with a low flame are with the regulator turned down as low as it goes. The photo with the burner cap off are with the pressure turned up but not max.

Actually no, look at the top of the burner, it is missing! It is however a hot, blue and roaring like a jet, so it must have enough pressure but just not a focused flame like the burner holes would provide. Wonder what the heck is going on. I tried a different propane bottle too. Another question regarding the last video. If the burner seems to work without the restrictions of the top multiple orifices does that mean the pressure/flow of gas could be way to high?

OK, here is the latest in this quest for blue flame and happy skies. I was using the LP gas jet in the KK as it should have been. The jet was clean and not clogged when removed. It turn out that the spring appears to have been inadvertently affixed to the jet bag since it is the exact spring that goes onto the roti adapters. Here it is with the burner top off.

Dennis, the jet is in there snd it is the correct jet. It had the smallet hole in it, the larger holed jet is labeled "nat" which I assume is for natural gas. I have tried the air mix adjusting disc in all positions snd wide open eorks best but as you can see not great. Any other ideas!

Yeah, you would need flat for the ice slide method. I wonder if Dennis ever moved one with an elephant? Hope the move goes smoothly.

I can second this! The double bottom drip tray is a great table top on the patio for things that might roll off the table, but you need a crane or a real big tall strong person to lift it out of the big32's firepit. Jeff, maybe you could use the ice to your benefit and skid the KK across the frozen ground?

Is is my rock and has helped me through some pretty trying physical and emotional times. I love her dearly and know that I do not do nearly enough for her. Amazing what a Blind Date in a General Store can produce

I have a 28 year old set of oxy/ace welding regs and it is so tempting to hook those up to see how a blue flame should be with a rosebud tip, but I digress. I am sure Dennis will think of something. "Show me your regulators" should have included a photo of my loving wife who puts up with my hobbies Skeptical by nature, and for good reason...

Charles, those appear to be 5 and 10psi regulators. Since Dennis Posted in his "details" description of the burners that a high pressure regulator was necessary I opted for the 15psi and that apparently was not enough to produce blue flame. So I upped the ante by getting a 0-40psi regulator and got a wee bit more blue but still lots of yellow. If someone was not here to see the difference they would say there was no difference. Something is up and last night I took the burner apart to verify I had the correct jet in it. I do, it is the smaller of the 2 jets provided, the larger orifice jet labeled for Natural Gas use. So patiently awaiting Dennis and his team to figure out whats wrong. I am hesitant to totally dismantle the jet system but maybe there is something in the jet from the factory?? BTW, it is a royal pita to get to that jet without a proper wrench that fits into the burner space. Paul, I looked at that page and I have tried regulators with those pressure ratings. Something is not quite right and I have been assuming that what came from the factory is good to go; maybe not.

I have tried 2 different regulators now and both did not work correctly. A "High Pressure" one rated for BBQ's that was a 15psi model, a today the "Adjustable High Pressure 0-40psi" regulator. Neither of them produced a clean blue flame. And yes, I did try adjusting the air mix on the burner and nothing got be a blue flame. So could you all that have gas burners show me your regulators and tell me what model/type they are and where you got them. I will have quite the stash of used once regulators at this point and it is not a tax deduction

A simple Stop Collar that fits the Smoke Tube with 2 holes drilled in it would work fine.

Got new regulator today, a 0-40psi and it was not enough!! So what the %#@%## regulator are you all using?? This latest one I tried is the Bayou Classic https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0033JF0GE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On a brighter note I finished this today.

If the weld holds for what you are doing with it then it is a good weld It is very difficult to weld to plated, especially galvanized, material and loaded with toxic fumes too!

Replace slot head bolt with allen set screw. Machine 1/16" off its length. I might try to cut a radius to fit the vertical CS Chip Chamber.

Here is a prototype I am working on. It needs a bit of refinement but I think you can see what it does. A disc of 316 Stainless Steel acting as a collar for the smoke tube that is attached/screwed to the mounting bracket (which does not rotate at all) and the set screw in the collar prevents the vertical chip tube from rotating. Dennis, are you watching?? A pretty good retrofit for existing Cold Smokers.
