Oh man, does it ever. That looks fantastic. Any tips or particular recipe you like?

I am a lover of Prime Rib, and want to try doing one in a few weeks on the 23. However I did not purchase the Roti setup. Has anyone done a Prime Rib without a Roti, and if so, how did it go? Any pointers? Is it even possible to do and have it turn out well? Thanks!

That’s a very good point. I used mine while wearing gloves rated for 1000 degrees. Guess I could have just grabbed it with my hands.

I used my grate grabbers to take the top grate off so I could remove the drip pan and finish my ribs right over the fire. Worked great, glad I have them.

The aftermath. They appear to have been a hit. Best I’ve made, and a great first attempt on the KK Looking forward to many more attempts. I also cranked up the KK and threw on a couple of steaks that did not suck. No pictures of them as I almost lost an arm from the fam when I tried to rest them properly.

Those pizzas look fantastic. I’m intimidated by making dough but will probably try pizza tomorrow. 3 hours in. Climbed to 250-275.

Cool. Thanks for the videos, and putting my mind at ease. Maybe just loosened it up from the high heat yesterday.

Here‘a another video from the other side. There’s kind of a double motion the second time, but the second latch is a heck of a lot easier than it was yesterday. That expected? Just doesn’t seem as tight as it did. IMG_4785.MOV

Strange happenings - Burn-in went fine, had about a dozen spots venting. Shut her down after about 14 hours. Patched some of the holes/grout this morning. However I just went out to start my first cook and it seems like the double latch is no longer working. It appears to lock/latch after just one notch. I swear yesterday it was a distinct double latch with the second one being harder, but today...only one. Anyone ever have that happen to them? When it is latched, the metal latch does appear to be flush against the KK, so there’s no room to push it further. I don’t think it’s user error, but that is always a possibility with me.

First cook - Baby Back Ribs!

I think it may be my biggest regret that I didn't get one with my 23 (other than not getting a 32 of course). Having one the shape of the KK would be very beneficial for a lot of different applications, so I'll probably end up getting one sooner rather than later.

That's awesome, Basher. I love the glass pool "fence". I wanted that for ours, but got overruled - "too modern". The entire thing looks spectacular.

Finally have a soft spot with some leakage about 10 inches below the handle.

That’s the one that came out of that box. It was taped up in an unmarked smaller box inside of that bigger box on the pallet. I thought it looked a little smaller than others I’ve seen. Maybe I got the wrong one somehow? You’ll have to let me know what one comes with your 23 next week, @Wingman505.

Yup, that’s the thermometer that came in the box. Was a bit surprised it didn’t go higher, but oh well. I closed the top half a turn, and will see what that brings it down to and just leave it there for a few hours.

About 8 hours in. No hissing, no bubbling, no white residue, no bulging, no soft spots that I can find, and no real strong chemical smell...though it is windy so I may just be missing it. How high should I take her?

That's more beautiful than a KK (don't tell anybody here I said that). That an M2 or M240i? Love the color. Definitely on my list to drive when it's time for a new car, largely because it still comes with a third pedal (at least in the M2).
