Hmmm...Sounds like its time to revisit that hammered copper dome. Why couldn't it be attached with this stuff? I'll go ahead and take the prototype, and let you know if the dome falls off -

No apology needed, but if you want to find out exactly whats going on with the code on the Guru site, the guru forum will probably be a much more responsive audience. That said, I really dont think you are being bombarded with malware by visiting the guru site. Programs like norton are looking for certain code characteristics without regard to intent or use of the code. I seldom visit the guru site, but when I did, it appeared to be cobbled together by the guru folks themselves, as opposed to a professional development company. As such, I expect that they may have copied and pasted some legitimate controls, which may also be used my bad guys on occasion, and hence the warnings. But again, only the guru folks can update or explain their site -

Krusty, I would not get too excited about it, but I have to ask why you are posting this on the KK forum and not on the BBQ Guru forum? -
Looks good, Paul! How did you rig your thermometer to hang on the rotis mount? Do you have the rotis bracket installed? Does it get hot on the thermometer when it hangs there?

outstanding - i cant wait! Hey, the middle pic looks like there is light coming from the rear left - has the gas door moved to the left instead of the right? -
No you didnt, you imagined it. If there are no pictures, it didnt happen - sorry, those are the house rules

The next time I dont catch anything, I have a good recipe for the leftover bait!
-
Yep. The POSK is one solid layer of concrete, where the KK has 2 layers - a dense inside, and the outside layer being a lighter insulating blend to hold the heat inside. Except in this experiment, it will be keeping the heat on the outside.
-
pffft! Next you will be telling us to get a mac.
-
me too
-
Tell me about it! Mine is blue, and the outside gets hotter to the touch from sitting in the sun (even early in the day) than it does after I have roasted a couple of chickens for an hour at 400*! If it weren't for the insulating layer, I could almost get to 225 and cook in it. Just for comparison, I will try to remember to compare the thermometers on my KK and POSK in the heat of the day tomorrow. I bet my light colored POSK is substantially hotter than the dark KK.

Yes, the gulf coast of FL is a beautiful place. There are countless places where you can escape the crowds and have a relaxing time.

CURLY?!? Curly who?? I used to know a guy named Curly, but he has been scarce 'round here lately. Figger'd maybe he got into some trouble breaking his cousin out of the clink or something. Went underground or something You didn't even tell us you were coming to FL, either! Traveling like I do, I should really be more proactive in putting a face to some of the names on this forum. I have only met DJ, and he was not nearly as cool looking as the Curly Fam!

With a bone, you have an advantage (Did I just say that in a thread where a guy has Beavis as his avatar?!? ) When the center is ready to pull easily, the bone will twist and pull out with little resistance. If you can pick it up with the bone, its not ready,

What other half? That was all for me

I just reminded myself why it is that I almost never order a steak from a restaurant - which is quite a handicap when you travel 35+weeks a year. This is because I am oft disappointed when I do so, and just wish I had waited and cooked myself one at home, because they are always so much better. Tonight, was one of those nights Here was the plan, very simple with consistently outstanding results. First (and most important) pour yourself a nice glass of wine. Then, take a couple of your favorite cuts of steak (I used filet) and gave them a nice coating of sea salt and cracked pepper. Get the grill going. I prefer to use the lower grill,as I like my steaks cooked medium, and I think the lower facilitates the longer dwell easier than the sear grill. As the lump gets rolling, oil some potatoes and give them a shake of kosher salt. Once the grill is up to 325-250 dome, add them directly on the grate to start roasting. After about 20 minutes flip the potatoes and rearrange if there are any hotspots causing them to cook unevenly. This would be a good time to refill your wine glass, too. After about 15-20 more minutes, move the potatoes off to the sidelines and put the meat on the grill. My dome is about 425 by this time (dial full open and about 1 full turn on the dome). When I add the meat I pull the slide out a few inches, which will bump the dome up to about 525 or so. Add the meat, and I also tossed in one chunk of persimmon wood at the same time. Let it cook for about 2 minutes then rotate it 90 degrees (you gotta have proper sear marks, right?) Just after the rotate, with a nice light fragrant smoke rolling: After a few more minutes (depending on your target temp), flip the steaks. Just after the flip: Same drill, a couple of minutes, then rotate 90 degrees, and shut the grill down tight. By now, after several minutes in the 500+ range, there is enough heat in the grill to finish roasting the steaks to whatever degree of cooked you want. I let mine go for about 8 minutes which was just barely past medium. Another fill on the wine glass and its off to heaven

how long did you leave it? If the handle was that hot, it must have been a little while.
-
Yep, within a few degrees depending on your altitude. Your handle got scorching hot with the lid closed, or was it open when you walked off?
-
there is a nut on the back. use it to set the temp to be accurate at a known temp, like boiling water.
-
Ill bet the inside is nice and clean now, though! At least you wont have to clean the grates before your next cook

Re: perfect application for using coconut extruded charcoal. You know the rules... PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Johnnyboy, saying your suspension was your own fault is like a battered woman saying that they deserved it! Only one person is responsible for any of our POSK woes, and it isnt you - unless your alias is Bob Thompson.
