You did great! Your first cook wasn't imaginary, or anything!
Excellent crust on the ribs - I'm jealous. What did you rub them with?
-
Did you take wrapper of meat package? Usually best to take them off before cooking, even in microwave.

Way to go girl' date=' maybe there was a real man in the bunch that caught yer eye huh? That other fella been vaporized, right
[/quote']Nope - all the friendly neighborhood guys are well-married with lots of kids. Very kind of them to help Mother by putting up the fence.
Besides, vaporguy is still around. He's in Rochester at school for now.
I'll share my Q with you KK guys, though.
We're family, after all.
(Tried to sell one of the guys on a KK, while we were eating. He has a smoker, and was considering making himself a cooker of some sort - probably brick or block in the back yard.)

No' date=' but there was food wasn't there?
I wanted to try some of the famous Sanny's Saucy Que!
[/quote']ooh! Well, I did hold some back from the natives. Two butts still in the freezer, as well as a recipe of raspberry chipotle.

Oh my. You wanted to hang a fence? Who knew?Sounds good! Where was my invite?-=Jasen=-

Rave Reviews
Remember those butts I did a couple weeks ago (and you all ignored them)? Well, moment of truth time.
It was the fence raising at Mother's house, and I was in charge of food. I had two crocks of pulled pork (one Dizzy Dust, one Tsunami Spin), raspberry chipotle sauce, Lexington vinegar sauce, coward's sauce (squeeze bottle of Bulls Eye), slaw, Vidalia onion slices, brownies, and rolls.
The Dizzy Dust coated pull disappeared in a flash. The Tsunami took about 30 seconds longer. Rave reviews! They loved the raspberry and the vinegar sauces. Someone musta been a coward, because the squeeze bottle sauce was open, too.
More than I anticipated "understood" about vinegar sauce and slaw on top.
I had done 4 butts, but set out only 2. There were 7 guys (6 adults and 1 bottomless pit in high school), 2 wives, Mother and me. Turned out just enough. I sprinkled the pork with apple juice to reheat in the crocks.
Thanks, all, for your suggestions!

First low and slow I ever did, I stayed awake all night. Ugh!! Now I trust the setting, since I know how to do it.
I put a stripe of white out on the tile of the top damper, so I know how far a quarter, eighth, or whatever turn is. That makes it easier. It scratches off with a fingernail, so not permanent.
But Firemonkey's suggestion is good. Try controlling the temp all day, maybe with ribs started early in the morning to serve that evening. That way you get a sense of how the temp holds. Then try an overnight.

What in the WORLD good would a smokeless KomodoKamado be? Might as well use the .... (cue scary music)... OVEN!
Horrors!!

Mmm, what time should we be there? You might have more than 12... lol
What's a snag? Yer talkin Aussie without a translator, again... tsk tsk.

Alas, I suspect it's like art. Each user will create his own method.
Experiment a little - that's half the fun. Ok, less than half. Maybe not even a quarter. In fact, it might tick you off.
Can't wait to hear about your cooking this weekend, Ozzie!

Re: I'm out the Door on my way to San Fransisco..
Have a lovely time! We'll look for you in the newspapers.I'm back to celebrate my Grandfathers 95th Birthday.. -
You might want to put your KK on a solid surface on top of the deck. Grease splats, etc. A mat, or even square of outdoor plywood. Just my thought. Nasty to get your deck all soiled. Also, avoid burn marks if a coal falls out.
Mine's on concrete, so what do I know?
Curly is a tidy kinda fella, so he's ok on planking. And he has Chubby to clean up after him, after all.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news' date=' but the copper plan was scrapped becasue Dennis deemed it infeasible.[/quote']Not to mention heavy as all get out. Can you imagine the weight of that thing? But then, a KK with tile is no pixie...

Welcome, Chile. Glad you could visit between beers and grilling.
Have we got the perfect grill for you!
Pick your color and off you go!

Auto paint or enamel - different story.
My M's kitchen cabinets and trim were painted in 1968 with blue paint for 1957 Studebaker trucks. 39 years later, it's still rocking! No chips, no marks, nothing. Have to change the oil every few months, though.

Re: Any chance in future of Metal Exterior??
It seems Dennis has the tile problem licked. But there's always the option of textured, or "stucco" finish. No tiles to fall off!I worry about tile adhesion. There's a hand hammered copper prototype out there (photo on the forum boards somewhere) , but (airc) the price would be astronomical. As it would have to be. Same with stainless. And powder coat would be like dressing a goddess in a dirty gunny sack. Bleh!
Consider a textured - they're really pretty, lots of colors to pick from, AND they're readily available!

Yep...I planted 6 Jalepeno plants' date=' 2 bell peppers, one poblano, and one cow horn. None of them can keep pace with the ONE grape tomato vine![/quote']Tomatoes are weeds. Tasty weeds, but weeds nevertheless.

Hmmmm' date=' have we seen the color of the outside of that grill yet
[/quote']There's an outside? Who knew?
Inside is all that matters, when there's Q to be had.
-
Hehehe.
I didn't even think about peppers with your screen name, until you put the avatar up! Now I get it! I was thinkin "young person," said with a deep southern accent.
Now I have another reason to smile at your screen name.
What are you cooking on now, Chile?

Deej, keep it together a bit longer. Dennis is at a family thing in the US, showin off the Lovely Mrs. Dennis, and Kids.
You can do it... deep breaths....

Considering the postage to get them to you, why not get all of them? Probably not much difference in cost.I'm considering getting the 5 or 10 gift pack...Do you feel ALL of them are worth getting or do you have favourites?
You have a new Aussie Blue, man! Quit skimping!

I thought I might need more' date=' but you cant let them win all the battles, you have to draw the line somewhere.............................................................. Don't You?[/quote']Well, you COULD draw a line, but it would be for your benefit only. Dunno about yours, but mine doesn't know from lines. A line! What does it smell like? sniff sniff... nuthin. ignore line.
She lets me sleep in the bed, but only so I can add or remove blankets when she's cold, or open the window when she's hot. And I can live in the house, cause I have thumbs and she doesn't, so I can open the food bag more easily, and pull the treats out of the treat jar.
Sad to say, but so it is.
I'm well trained after 12 years...

Shakin the tree
I think I mentioned Dizzy's Shakin the Tree rub earlier, and said it was heatless. *buzzer* Wrong answer.
Mother said OOOOH! This is HOT!! So, it does have some heat. Nothin like the "manly" dizzy rubs, but some nonetheless.

I had this out with the pulled pork yesterday, and it got RAVES. Mother absolutely loves it. I think she's gonna put it on her oatmeal, she loves it so much.
Thanks, PC, for the wonderful suggestion!
