mnacht
Today was my first attempt at making pulled pork and it was fabulous. I started with a 5lb boneless boston butt. Rubbed it the night before and put on the KK at around 6:45AM. Used a combination of apple wood and Texas post oak and smoked at 225 degrees for about 11 hours until internal temp on the maverick reached 198 degrees. Bark looked a little dark, but it tasted great!!! This could be some of the best pulled pork I have ever had. Attached are photos of my work. tony b
Don't fret the bark. It looks just right. Welcome to the Fans of Pork Club!!
GoFrogs91
Looks perfect. With the temp that low, you shouldn't have any issues burning the rub. You want the juicy asteroid look that you just achieved. Try the same with a chuck roast for some amazing pulled beef.

DennisLinkletter
I paint all my large cuts with mustard and then pile on the salt free rub.. this makes the best black chewy bark possible.. That is unless I go only salt, pepper and fresh roasted and ground chili powder...
mguerra
I always say the highest function of the KK is to smoke a pork shoulder...
