jgkite
Today was our first cook on the new 23" Ultimate. We're in the middle of the burn in (lots of venting ) so we threw on some Bratwurst and buns around lunchtime. Was delicious!

5698k
That's good, and you're venting, no hotter, if anything, back it down some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

MacKenzie
Wait until you try chicken, it always comes out extra moist, can't get a better cooker than the KK.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk We haven't been able to get the tiles to lay back down in the worst spot, which I guess means it's still venting. Been holding at 500° for 4 hours or so. Do we need to wait for the tiles to lay down to start notching it up?
5698k
No, you'll need to press the tiles in as it cools. Are you seeing liquid? Do you still get the chemical smell? Go ahead and back down roughly 50°, it won't hurt a thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Chemical smell isn't noticeable anymore. At what point during the burn in do you start notching it up toward 750?
5698k
Not necessary! You're venting, that's all that matters! You're doing this perfectly. If you're seeing solvent, you can let it vent, but cooling it down a bit won't hurt a thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Instructions said to take it up to 750° so I'm a little confused how to proceed.
5698k
I understand, but the goal is to vent the remains of the grout moisture, and you've done that. If you go hotter, try another 50-100°. If you don't see any more moisture, you're vented. But you're trying to avoid a violent vent, which you've accomplished. The goal now is to cool it down slowly enough to press the tiles back in as it cools. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
