  2. 38" Goldilocks Unveiled.. The 38” Goldilocks is the newest member of the KK family. We took our 42” Serious Big Bad grill, sawed it in half, and pulled 4” from the middle. It is a reduced size 42". It has the same double two-spring hinges, the basket splitter is standard, and a stainless lip protector. Its inside dimensions are 38” wide and 22” deep. It comes standard with three levels of 3/8” 304 stainless grates that can cook on four levels. The main and lower grate have rods front to rear and come in three pieces. It also comes standard with a charcoal basket splitter reducer that lets you cook on a reduced volume of charcoal. This creates a two-zone cooking environment. The grill weighs 1,560 lbs—(74 lbs less than the 42") and rolls easily on five high-density black rubber castors, four in the legs and one under the body, to distribute the weight evenly. It has 208 lbs of 304 Stainless.. Standard tiles $ 8,240 Bronze and Pebble tiles $ 8,480

  3. A couple chickens for Saturday dinner, with lots of leftovers lol I tried the upper grate to render the skin better for the first time and it worked great. But the skin was done before the meat so i flipped that grate and lowered the temp for the last 20 minutes to prevent burning. I think next tiime i will go upper grate but lower my temp to 350 instead of 385 ish. But the results were fantastic, one sauced with Kosmo's cherry Habanero BBQ sauce, its a winner. As in winner winner chicken dinner

  5. Burn-in finally started! FireBoard doesn't have a proper adapter for the KK, so I ended up ordering a Thermoworks Universal Billows Mounting Kit. A few hits with the Dremel to lop off the ears and make two slits on the side and I have it mounted to the nozzle mount for the FireBoard (nozzle mount probably optional but it adds a little insulation). Rumor has it most pre-existing fans will also work fine, but I'm starting from scratch out here. So far so good, just Jealous Devil lump (seems reasonable) lit with a Looftlighter (first time using one of those, not too bad and pretty convenient). Crack the top damper a bit and close off everything else. I set it to 300F initially and got there in about 15 minutes.

  8. That is a completely different spitter.. The left to right one is the rotisserie splitter.. Roti splitter Charcoal Basket splitter is front to rear and adjustable

  9. That was just an office employee adding an unnecessary adjective to the splitter name.. No idea where it came from! We changed to the splitter with the sliding fence like the 42" quite a while ago..

  10. I went from BGE to Primo to KK. BGE was good, I had lid issues every time I did a high heat cook. I hated having to adjust the lid all the time. the Primo was much nicer, it made the BGE feel like a toy in comparison. But with the Primo I had issues with the firebox design, they kept cracking, I went through 3. The KK is just in another league compared to those two. I love the BB32, I just go out and cook, I never have to worry about the lid or the firebox, I just enjoy it. I would never go back. And add me to the list of those that wish they had just bought the KK to begin with.

  11. i haven't had enough cooking time on the KK to give a full review, but i was using KJ and weber products before. i think the cooking experience is similar to a KJ, but the KK keeps heat like a refractory pizza oven. the build quality is excellent. but i don't consider it a luxury product. i think a kk costs exactly what i expect it to cost for what it give you. i can say the same with kj or bge. you get what you pay for. from where i live (asia) KK service is also excellent. i had parts sent to me in less than two weeks. but i also had positive cs experiences with KJ vietnam and Weber japan, just slower. there's not really any diy assembly for kk. even the metal cart for my 19 came fully assembled, which coming from years of buying garbage on amazon and ikea, was a total shock to me. the millwork is also excellent. KK makes very nice teak accompaniments for the grill. edit: i forgot to mention, you get extra parts on all the user replaceable parts for your grill with your purchase. i don't know of any company that does this.

  12. Charcoal burns at the maximum volume for the given airflow regardless what the properties of the charcoal are. The same airflow will create the same BTUs.. The more dense the charcoal is the less of it will appear to be burning, the less dense will have more burning..

  13. Very few tiles get the two grey colors.. dark mustard was before the acrylic grout. Pretty much everything we do now is black.

  14. The hot face service temp is 2,200ºf but the material is considered a consumable at those temps. Blast furnaces need regular maintenance and filling with the refractory patch at those working temps. Your KK grill is designed to last a lifetime at "food cooking temps" not to be used as a kiln. The smoke point of lard is only 370ºf So high temps where you create enough heat to make your grill expand is really unnecessary... There is no escaping physics.. the grill does and will expand when taken to high temps.. This can be confirmed by the small crazing on the smooth grout finish on your grill's lips. High temp blasting your grill from black to grey will be detrimental to it's long life and is not necessary. The inside of a grill/smoker should be black.. it's not dirty. Regularly taking your KK to 900ºf dome / 1452ºf lower to clean your grates is a good way to damage your grill.. Please do not do it..
