  1. Am I supposed to be cleaning my grills? Grill floss and an occasional wipe with olive oil is all mine get, no dog lick'n, soak'n or spray'n. Well then there is the pizza cooks that do a pretty good job of turning things to ash.
  2. I'd say let 'er rip. If it's not ready now it won't ever be. I see pizza in your future...
  3. Re: Is there a 2.65 mile high club? Is there a 2.65 mile high club? Start one!!
  4. No cracking problems with the stock HD. I don't think most pizza stones can survive direct flames or rapid temp changes, the stock HD can do both without any problems.
  5. viewtopic.php?t=3443 Look at the last page of this post, Dennis is now making them!
  6. As a right hander, 10-4 or 11-5 would be better... Otherwise, I guess I've never given it much thought.
  7. Planked potatoes are great, but it has been too long, they go on the list of things to do again - soon. Nice looking grub!
  8. Re: look That's my cooker in the photo, we have our share of bad weather in Iowa and the KK allows me to cook outside all winter, I couldn't do that effectively or efficiently with the thin tin gasser. I have a cover I, just got caught without it on one snow storm... no big deal, I'm sure there are plenty of them out all winter with no cover at all. It's a tank, a luxury car and a sports car all at the same time, get one now, the Living Room can wait! We got the KK and then remodeled the kitchen, now everyone is happy.
  9. Looks good TR, I do mine indirect at 225 - 250, usually takes about 2 hours.
  10. One was moved from Iowa to Texas in a minivan. Look here for pictures. No problems.
  11. I used to hate meatloaf as a kid (sorry mom) and was kinda hesitant to try it on the KK, but it is certainly a favorite now. I'll try to remember to post the recipe we use, although meatloaf is certainly friendly to modifications! BTW the screens that FM pictured are awesome for this.
  12. Welcome Lee, that sounds like a familiar path, the quantity of satisfied users accumulating here makes it easier and easier to take the leap with confidence. Get that camera warmed up and show us your cooker and it's products.
  13. We imagined a high heat brisket, 2 roti chickens, burgers, dogs and corn on the cob.
  14. What Doc says, say NO to running out of fuel, it can ruin your whole day. Box up what's left for next time.
  15. Condolences from Iowa. I wonder what your Grandfather would say if he knew he was a trending topic on Twitter yesterday...
  16. I generally use Royal Oak also, it's available. Personally, I don't really consider the taste I get from RO as 'smoky', I don't know what word to put on it, but smoke would typically not be it. Pretty much the only thing I haven't added smoke wood to would be pizza cook. Add some wood next time, perhaps the boy will actually like that flavor.
  17. tnt, Did you use any additional smoke wood? If you did NOT and the smoke was too much I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you could try some plain briquettes. If you did, you can always reduce the amount of wood you add, I have not had any problem with too much smoke, however I understand that it is a personal preference. Give a little more detail on what you used for cooks you had too much smoke.
  18. If there is enough water flow to wash sand away you should consider some type of stone (gravel) for the bedding, it will hang around.
  19. Alternatively, you can also just remove the motor from the cooker and look at the direction the square hole spins - plus your neighbors don't look at you funny as you're squatting in your cooker Crap, why didn't I think of that... I should have mentioned to make sure you haven't started your charcoal before you get in also.
  20. What you are saying makes sense (it also makes the rotation the wrong direction for the basket shaft) - visualize sitting inside the cooker looking at motor, it needs to turn clockwise from that vantage point or standing on the outside (on the right) where it would be counter-clockwise - the opposite of what you currently have.
  21. Susan, The EZQ motors are fine, you need a motor that turns clockwise when viewed from the cooker (shaft) side. Mark
