  1. A charcoal chimney has been the best for getting up to temp fast for me. Remember, you don't need to see 600 on the thermometer to cook a great steak, you only need a good flaming fire. I cook my steaks with a lot lower dome temp than that, I go by the fire and not the thermometer. A lot of the fun is in the experimenting.
  2. Look at the top left corner, that edge doesn't look "KK-like", either way, that picture is not real flattering if it is a KK.
  3. I can't believe I was the only one to bring cake to this party... Have another great year!
  4. I've cooked 40 pounds once (4 butts) and around 50 pounds (5 butts). You may be able to squeeze a touch more but I'm not sure how... You need to leave some room for smoke!!
  5. Not exactly my style, but very nice work!
  6. Yeah, what Mike said. BTW, I loves me some Journey, saw them twice live when I was younger.
  7. Looks like you are off to a great start!
  8. Sorry Dave - does this help? Pork and 'taters (from the other Iowa)
  9. The KK even got a bit of picture in the book, page 99 has a glimpse.
  10. I've seen you sell some cookers with a lot worse (IMHO) color than that! I won't be able to say for sure until it's actually installed...
  11. Come on in the water is fine! I caught some grief here for a pizza lacking meat, however, I think things have calmed some 'round here since then.
  12. I got the Viking - it's the same basket in a Viking branded box. If you can find one in stock, get it.
  13. Welcome to the jungle! Brush up on your digital photography posting techniques, and document it all for us!
  14. Step on it Shep, I'm late for my grooming!
  15. Sorry to hear that DL. You may want to look into a continuous backup service like Carbonite. It backs up all file changes (for files you specify) so you are never without a current backup.
  16. Nice Cozy, did you have any flashbacks when designing that one??
  17. Welcome. I see no reason you should not put out the same Q as Chris.
  18. Add an antenna? http://tvwbb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tp ... 51153/p/10 You will find some discussion here about adding an antenna to your Maverick. I have been sitting on this info or over a year. I intend to try it one of these days...
  19. Welcome to the club, next year ask for a digital camera so you can prove what you say!
  20. I'm sure the spike on the 2nd is from the Facebook frenzy that my post caused...
  21. I guess I can't explain it either. Go get yourself a FB page and you will understand it, I'm still not sure I "get it". The whole social networking thing is little beyond me, but I do find myself with a FB page AND a Twitter account, I'm beginning to understand why I embarrass my kids!
  22. Re: Komodo Kamado on Facebook Invite them over here!!! Why reinvent the wheel? A "group" @ Facebook is nothing like a forum (like here). If you have a Facebook page and you join the KK group, it exposes more people, and a lot of people that would probably never cross paths with this type of cooker. Who knows, perhaps Dennis will get a customer because someone was curious about a group I joined and by looking at that page ends up here, or at least at the KK site and lays down the ca$h! It could happen... and it's free. About a gazillion people frequent FB with no end in sight..
  23. If you are on Facebook (I guess it's not just for kids anymore) join the Komodo Kamado group and cause a ruckus. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=65621530856
