Started the weekend off with a bang...
johnnyboy replied to Jackie from Jersey's topic in Komodo General
Oh my Jackie!!! I can't believe that happened to your husband. I hope he's okay. Get him some silvadine (sp) creme. I've been burned, it does help. Glad your food came out great; again sorry for the hubby. Best of luck on healing him. -
No kidding Sanny; no way I'd want to do that by hand. You've taught me allot about it Firemonkey, more than I've been able to find on my own. Thanks much, I appreciate it allot.

I'll be happy to sew on patches; just provide them when you order. It all started out as wanting to embroider company logos on the cover itself. I found a place in town that would do it; but a bit of an effort in time and gas just running back and forth in/out of town for every cover, plus the cost of the work. Just wasn't worth it. Covers are already expensive enough. So then I thought about having patches made for each company; but didn't like the idea of a sewn on patch for logo. Nor at the time did I know the effort/process required such as digitize a jpg type file, before it can even go to the embroidery machine. Baffels me knowing there's software out there to convert just about anything; that one can't simply feed a jpg type file to a computerized embroidery machine and have it sewn. Just blows me away why it's so different on an embroidery machine than sending a file to a plotter, printer, CNC machine, robot, auto-pen machine, or whatever. Just wasn't as easy or affordable as I thought. Can't imagine how many hats it would take to recover $20K; all I know is it's too many for this boy.

Difficult to understand the expense in embroidery. Especially when you see at every truck stop and fair someone embroidering hats/shirts like it's going out of style. So I thought would be fun to add an embroidery machine to my buisness; for the same reason Zorro has it on his cover. So I could embroider forum names, personalized images of interest, etc for folks. Kind of a personalized service. That was until I priced just the embroidery machine! 8 colors or so you're in the $20K range, and that doesn't include the software to run it. Definitely doesn't include the software to digitize a photo. I thought man, quite a bit more than I have to spend to have a bit of fun service. But darnit if I didn't wish I had the money. I'd do it just for the fun, and to be able to provide not only custom covers, but personalized as well.

I hope so, looked like machine work to me (not too familar with embroidery). If not, was certainly a whole lot of handwork.

I can tell you someone put a bit of work into designing that embroidery pattern. Look at it full size, you see the detail in it, I think you'll see what I mean.
-
I didn't see it as teasing anyone. If you see a Troll, or a funny looking frog in my yard; please don't think I'm making fun of them. Because in fact I like them.
-
You really did it!!! OMG Zorro; that's freakin awesome!!! I love it!! Glad the cover is holding up. You probably have another 8 years! Even myself am surprised how well my cover's holding up, and I dont' take care of it. Thanks for the post. Been waitin' for this one.

How many servings from 9lb bone-in pork butt?
johnnyboy replied to Jackie from Jersey's topic in KK Cooking
Jackie, finally getting the copper roof on eehh? Nice, we want to see it when it's finished. I agree, no problem searing steaks followed by low and slow. Butts cook so long anyway it doesn't hurt to start it a little warm. Adding cold butt will also help absorb the heat. One thing not mentioned I do is, after searing/cooling, before the low-slow I shake the ash off the coals then top them off. Include a good ol' batch of baked beans with bacon, a big potato/macroni salad, and I think you'll have enough. If worried, you can easily add a few racks of ribs near the end of the but cook. -
Culibaly, I think you were just called a dinosaur!!!

I cooked a bone-in prime rib dry aged once also. My first experience with dry aging. I ordered it dry aged so no idea how much weight was lost. Does anyone agree dry aging also makes the meat taste stronger? The meat tasted stronger to me, but I can't say it was noticibly more tender.

Wooden balcony??? If it's a wooden deck type; you might want to consider the weight of the KK and spacing of the support joists.

Well how about that! Thanks TKline. Just goes to show you can teach old dogs new tricks. Just doesn't mean you won't have to remind them once in a while. I never paid much attention to that quote box. My gosh, heck of a lot easier. Sanny, TK said "probably"; that doesn't mean he's giving away your Goddess status, it was a good guess. You're still our goddess of emoticons and sweet sayings. Here's to cheer you up

Sanny sweetie, how come when you quote, emoticons stay with the quote, but when I quote they don't? I make sure to include the emoticon when I highlight the string for copy/paste in the quote, but the emoticons never copy for me. Boo-hoo.. ...... .......
-
Yea, the lightbulb guy; that's what I'm talkin' bout' Sanny wrote and has me LMBO: You should try it Sanny! You might like it!! Both finish nearly the same time...... Honestly, I did it.

Rib Racks as an art form?
johnnyboy replied to DennisLinkletter's topic in KK Features & Accessories
Nice rack Dennis!! Now we need a removable accessory handle (pair) so we can carry it "hot" full of ribs from the grill to the kitchen! Okay, I know, I have the gloves. -
ROFLMBO You're a good sport Firemonkey!! (Just had to include a couple pink emoticons for the occasion.... )

Awesome first brisket! Is that your first brisket ever, or just on the KK? Bobvoeh wrote: Try both at the same time; butt over brisket. That's awesome.
