  1. Nice chest primeats! I'd cover that for sure! Just my opinion, after knowing folks with both protected and unprotected teak; I think in a couple years you'll wish you had. It's amazing how fast consecutive days of outdoor weather add up taking it's toll things we use/see periodically. Don't worry, I'll be here when you refinish it and decide to spread those days out over a few years.
  2. Fetzer wrote: No kidding!!! We lost power too! Was quite happy with the little used generator I bought for $75 at a garage sale just a month prior. And thank goodness gas fireplaces still work without power.
  3. Trish, thanks for the welcome back. Vacation was great; just too short before returning back to reality! Arghhh... need that retirement thing!! Sanny, first thing that comes to mind is all the exercise you're getting running between the key areas. Is it time for a bigger house...... na, means more work; you'd have to do another cute paint job.
  4. Fetzer, I'm playing catch-up here. Finally got me Verizon wireless broadband for my home laptop; now bringing it to work to access the forum. Even though I could never access KK forum on work equipment; I never liked consenting to monitoring either. Now I'm killing both birds with one stone. Anyway, Fetzer, you must have missed this storm?? Now here's a pretty good coating of ice in Iowa! I see why you're not having tile problems; you have great protection. I covered my K too late in life, and as most know have had tile issues. Check out the exposed aggrigate concrete; solid coating of ice!
  5. Sanny, you must be storing your parts like I do...... in the garage; anywhere they'll fit!
  6. Where're all you guys with the wheeled SS carts from Sams and Costco? Only reason I know is I've built a few covers for them. From the photos I've seen; SS carts are another option for storage, and a nice addition to a patio. John
  7. Thanks Tkline. Glad you're happy. Rinse the dust off once in awhile, you'll get many years out of that kover.
  8. I'm with ya, PaulR. If you can get away without a kover I would too; I actually tried.
  9. Dennis, awesome design. Loven it! Jasen, I know I'm late, hush up, hehe-he; but I like the static leg design too.
  10. Wow! Just catching up here. I appreciate all the kind words and support for our Jammies. Sanny, the elastic bungee on your Jammies (KK Covers for those who don't know) was from an old batch left over from years ago (retired sewing many years). It soon ran out and I couldn't find the same stuff. Ended up buying a roll of marine grade bungee cord that's turned out to be too difficult to stretch. I'm sure it'd be great in a marine application, but has turned out not necessary for the Kooker. Paulr, I agreed with you for the first two years, I felt the same way, and kept mine uncovered. I realized now, being new to Midwest conditions, frigid conditions does take it's toll on things outside, I mean everything. There's nothing wrong with taking extra steps to care for your art. I collect a bit of art myself (maybe I just think so); to show off many things means removing it from it's protection. Some of us like to protect our prized kookers in the same way. Weather under a sap tree, in the Midwest, or whatever. IMHO
  11. I think so. Falls in line with the methodologies/efficiency's behind the term "centralization".
  12. Sanny, such a sweetie, ; just a bunch of old 2X4's I had laying around. I realized I'm not a mathmatican after all. I couldn't figure out the offset angles, drawing out a pattern, that would make a decent fit to save my sole. Finally said forget it, and built the stick frame.
  13. Thanks Dennis. Now I'll have to figure a way to add them to my manikin. Hey Sanny, you're always soo cute with your posts. I miss hearing from you. Unfortunately, I don't get a chance to get on the forum much anymore, can't get here from work, dang it.
  14. Well, I haven't cut yet; but I have laid it out. All depends on how much the tables add, and if the extra inches are there. I order yardage pretty close, not much extra. I suspect it won't work with the yardage I have; however, if you want, we can order more and add a panel in the rear.
  15. Hey Dennis, Tables look great! Love the curved design. I can't wait to see pics of them mounted. Will they fold down? Folks are going to want kovers for them for sure (already do); please send the circumference measurements when they're available so I can build them to my manikin. Thanks, Johnnyboy, [email protected]
  16. Johnnyboy Jammies! Shoot, Sanny, that's just the start. I made him a bedroom in the house! Will definitely pass out kisses for ya! Thanks. He's our first! His name is Jonathan.
  17. I'm playing catch-up here. I too can not access the forum/KK website using my work PC. Interesting though; this morning I'm sitting in the hospital waiting for my grandson to arrive, using their wireless and my personal computer and everything is fine. Must have someting to do with the move. No doubt at the office, PC/routers/etc. have more security things in place than here using my personal laptop. But, for what ever it's worth, it's not so tight at the office that we can't access most public forums. The problem/concern I see with changing settings for one site is, will it inadvertantly cause problems with another?
  18. Hey Gerard! I can see you! Must be your reflection in the whistle-boiler-pot! Avatar????
  19. Oh yea, baby! I'll second that! Pork butt tacos are awesome! Whenever I Kook a butt I can always count on tacos being on the table within a few short days.
  20. Beautiful Kooker And, I love the color. Nice setting. The SS collar and trim under the legs really sets it off. Nice touch, Dennis.
  21. Great Job, Whiz. I dunno how you ever found the energy to do both remodel and post it on the web at the same time. Good one.
  22. Fetzer, what ever you figure in time and materials; double it! You'll definitely be using the Kooker! Low and slows; ribs, butts, etc. worked out great in keeping the help happy. I'm coming to the end of a remodel project I started in Jan; bath, kitchen, and bedrooms. My first time doing such a thing. I did hire out the sheet rock work; which is now hung and being finished as I write, should be finished Saturday; so this weekend hoping to start doors, trim, etc. That's the big boss coming in to crack the whip; you'll get that too!
  23. I think I'm going into the apparel business. Future looks exciting. But Gerard, sorry to say, 10% of nutin is nutin. I'm giving the ladies apparel away; it's the fittins that'll be astronomical!
  24. Well now, lets think about this, Sanny. Considering you like to kook without your top on , yet have found you need belly protection , makes it a bit of an interesting challenge. Especially with finding a design that will allow you to continue expressing yourself yet not intefere with your kooking. But since I'm always up for a good challenge, and know already I have a small piece that'll match color has inspired me; so I've come up with a pretty neat design. The only thing is the shoestring strap really takes away from it Any ideas?
  25. Great job Bob. Thanks for sharing. Looks good, great pictures. One of these days you won't need that thermometer in the last pic to tell you it's done. Watch the bone; it'll separate from the meat similar to how a rib does. You'll learn to get a feel for it. When you can wiggle the bone just right you'll know it's separated from the meat, butt's done.
