  1. Tasty old posts.. In the very near future, I'll be unveiling the new KK website. I went thru and harvested hundreds of photos of amazing Q.. Hold on it'll be up soon..
  2. As always, I stand corrected.. Thanks Dave According to their FAQ: FibraMent's heat transfer rate is 4.63 Btu.in/hr.sqft.°F tested to ASTM Standard C177-95. Huge Coincidence.. After our own independent in house KK testing the engineers at HW and myself settled on 4.68 Btu.in/hr.sqft.°F tested to ASTM Standard C177-95. We found this to be more to our liking. Getting enough heat to bring this bad boy up to operating temp in a KK is not a problem so the 1" was what I wanted. I actually did obsess about it.. Had to be KK quality or I was not going to make it.
  3. We passed the exam.. Of course, the container passed the ex-ray exam.. The box will be picked up and brought to the warehouse today. I have all the deliveries pre booked. They will all be picked up Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The for the East coast delivery details probably won't be posted online until Monday. If the warehouse gets them all done the UPS items should go out on Friday by ground.
  4. Re: Fibra-ment Pizza stones The Fibra-ment Pizza stone's density is very close to the the Komodo Baking stone according to their FAQ. But of course the KK is thicker at 1" thick, comes with a protective stainless tray and is cast soo smooth it appears polished. IMHO Fibra-ment are the second best Baking stones around..
  5. walk you thru your options. Hi Robby, I'll give you a call and walk you thru your options.
  6. Container is scheduled for exam tonight. Container is scheduled for exam Monday night.. Home stretch..
  7. Was I right? Common mistake.. Heylo Robby, I'm guessing that you did not notice that the latch has two positions. When you close the top the latch catches on position one. You then want to press firmly down on the handle and firmly press the latch towards the cooker's body.. There is a cam in the latch which will pull the lid snugly closed.. When the grill is new it can be tight. Was I right?
  8. Customs speed bump.. Murphy's law has reared it's ugly head up and customs has ordered an ex-ray examination of the container. My brokers were gone on friday by the time I received the Email.. I'll know more about scheduling of the exam first thing monday morning.
  9. Re: Dionysus? Dionysus is also the origin of the name Dennis..
  10. Re: unscrew themselves? Dennis - they do unscrew themselves? Or is that supposed to be they do not unscrew themselves? Susan No they are supposed to screw themselves! Sorry I just had to write that... Aah feel much better now.. They should not unscrew that's why the threads are reversed.. sounds like your motor is spinning the wrong direction.. I'd stop and try to figure this out in my head but it's 4:50 AM here and it hurts to think.. Good nite..
  11. For those of you who have a bad case of "the kid the week before Christmas syndrome" You will be please to know that the ship arrived and now we are playing.. Hurry up and wait for the customs and Homeland security boys to do their thing.. Home stretch!
  12. I'd think your Gen 1 would only have less than 1 pound less. There are just some strips in the tail different, a smaller charcoal basket, different latch and side table plates. I think.. BTW the early 1/4" rod latches can be updated to the CNC cut one with roller bearing and cam if the top latch is not welded on (most are not) And there is a new longer CNC cut latch.. I've designed an upgrade but you would have to saw out the center shaft up top..
  13. unscrew themselves? I know that the basket's threads for the shafts are opposite standard so that they do now unscrew themselves. Try telling someone that on the phone
  14. . . Komodo Kamado Store/ Inventory page Click Here All photos are of the actual grill, shot in natural light on a tripod with the camera's white point balanced for honest color representation. Every monitor is a little bit different but this is the best we can do. Please remember discussing a grill in an Email does not reserve it. Grills are sold to who ever confirms sale first.
  15. They just looked soo tall up there.. surprised me. I'ver cooked birdies up there but never ribs standing.. I only have the KK rib rack so don't have anything to stand them up with up there.. They just looked soo tall up there.. surprised me.
  16. Re: First Double Decker Cook - Ribs Over Butts I never tried to put a rib rack on the upper rack.. That's a first for me to see. More height in there than one would imagine.
  17. I've known that the three 3/8" grills weigh in at a whopping 42 lbs for a while and have been telling people for years that the total SS in the Gen II was at least 60 lbs.. So today I had them throw all the 304 used in a Gen II on the scale and it came to 82.5 lbs!! I'm more than sure there are lots of stainless gas grills out there that don't have 82.5 lbs of stainless.. Just thought you'd get a kick out of knowing..
  18. Small world.. my father, Jack lived in Healdsburg for years before his passing and the Mayo's were very good friends of his.. I met with them many times and their oh so beautiful daughter, Malika visited me in Bangkok on her honeymoon..
  19. Re: corn meal? The small pieces of charcoal cut of or reduced your airflow which is ultra necessary for high temps.. With airflow, you will easily be able to wrap the needle.. but try not to.. while the hotface is designed for ultra high temps.. you will get more expansion than is best for the KK over 750º dome which is plenty hot for any food.. It's over 1200º down in the coals at that temp. I don't use a heat deflector when doing pizza.. If your crust is finished before your toppings, move it up to the upper grill to take advantage of the reflected heat..
  20. There was a large 7.8 magnitude quake in Sumatra this morning.. It is about a 4 hour flight away from Bali.. Thanks for all the concerned Emails, my family and friends are all fine.
  21. Thanks Fran.. Thanks Fran, Others have been directly involved with multiple sales but I think you are my first triple personal use owner.. Thank you for the Kudos and support..
  22. Chris Lilly tip.. VERY firmly compress the breast Chris Lilly tip.. I remember Chris telling me that you can take the palm of your hand on the breast and VERY firmly compress the breast of a chicken or turkey.. This compression will slow down the cooking of the breast.. and then of course is the good old pre-icing of the breast..
  23. Re: Easter Turkey You're more than welcome.. Good looking bird, I love turkey but they are all imported, very pricy and factory brined.. Now I'm inspired to get one anyway..
  24. Re: Roasted Vegetables To get more smoke flavor I'd try to not burn off all the smoke from the charcoal first or add a little wood to create more smoke.. (less is more in most cases) You also need to gently straighten your thermocouple so it will go thru the polder tube.. Bend it slowly over the entire curve... You also want to place it over the deflector not in the area outside it.
  25. #335 Gen 2.1 shipped Sept '07 It's #335 Gen 2.1 shipped Sept '07 has all the same accessories as todays Gen II's but is pre-elastomeric grout/adhesive.
