  1. I understand ckreef. I've not been over at the Guru but for a little under a year, so I have no comparables. So you are saying I missed the glory years. Always a day late and a dollar short! Ckreef, I went back and viewed your weekly pizza cook string last night. Good stuff!!! Bosco, I do understand where you are coming from, but you are considered to be one of the finer members of that forum. The only thing that changed is the color of the kamados to the brand of the kamados. I look forward to your future contributions on any forum that I frequent as I value your cooks, opinions and personal chat sessions talking about this fine KK product. Reflecting as I am a newbie to this forum, there is a certain brotherhood/sisterhood established here. All the best to each of you.
  2. Maybe I'm not well versed, but I'll be honest, I don't see the negative aura regarding the purchase of KK's on the guru. Seems to me each time a Guru member posts about obtaining a KK, there is general excitement. I will speak for myself and say that's how I feel. What am I missing? I'm not standing up for others or the Guru as there are heated discussions (that I generally avoid), but maybe my view is shielded. If you are suggesting the negativity relating to the finance topic, that's only people's opinion on financing cookers as well as other things. It has little to nothing to do with the actual KK. Just my opinion.
  3. Wow. You can't really understand how enormous the Big Bad 32" is until it sits next to the other. Beautiful!!! I love the other too relating to the Ultimate 23". That's my favorite color so far.
  4. I bet it is the click when you lock and unlock the lid, isn't it? I like to hear that on the videos I've watched. No dollar bill test there.
  5. My calendar is clear on Thursday to read your posts and see the pictures!!! I'm jealous...can't wait to hear what you think.
  6. I for one hope you continue to post on the KG AND KK forums. Your cooks need to be shared. Your unveiling of the new KK's may very well implode the KG forum. It will be epic. I just know it, and I for one can't wait to read all about it. Keep doing your thing.
  7. Bosco is THE reason I'm over here salivating at the opportunity to save and purchase a KK all the while continuing to do my research AND hold back the force. There is zero reason to apologize Bosco. Zero.
  8. What chu talking about Willis?
  9. I'm looking forward to all of the folks that purchased a new KK recently to post pictures of their new addition on the forum.
  10. That looks great,Wilbur. I'm also curious if you added some wood chunks to the Royal Oak. Great job!
  11. That looks great, Poochie! I like the jalapeño pepper shot - just a great photo. The money shot, superb. Geaux Tigers!!! Pulled out a close one on the road. A W is a W!!!
  12. Further - I'm thinking KOLACHE'S depending on the type bread and how fluffy, dense they are. Here is a link to a fairly popular kolache shop down here in Houston. Stuff those bad boys with your chicken sausage and some cheese - bake in the delicious stuff. MMMmmm. http://www.kolachefactory.com
  13. Get out of TOWN, MacKenzie. Those look fantastic. If I start cooking all of this bread, my diet won't work out well for me .
  14. Great googly moogly. That looks delicious.
  15. Thank you both tinyfish and MacKenzie. Quite a Canadian connection!
  16. Wow, Frog! Congratulations. Right in the middle of football season! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your setup if you'd be so kind to share, as my two favorite colors (now) are the Terra Blue and Harvest Gold Pebble. I honestly can't decide as I've flipped and flopped. My wife is officially on board, which is excellent news. We are just going to save up. She even suggested purchasing a teak table to go with the 23" Ultimate, but would like for the table to be able to support my current Kamado Joe Jr, and eventually maybe the 16 or 19 table top way down the road . Always a step ahead! I'm afraid the weight of the 19 would be too much, but I'm not certain on that....much less the 16.
  17. That bake looks killer!!! I've got another potential buyers club question if you don't mind the hijacked post. I see that there is a round baking stone and then another that is cut to the diameter of the grill. Is that correct, or am I now thinking that's the heat deflector? I'm overwhelmed as I have no idea what comes standard with the grill and what are add ons! Back to the buns, any secrets to your recipe. That really looks wonderful.
  18. Absolutely, Poochie. When making the road trip home to catch an LSU game, I stop at Don's Specialty Meats for some cracklin as it is fairly easy to get in and out of there. Boudin is scooped up along the way as well. You are exactly right about the Baton Rouge traffic. My commute to downtown BR from the Sherwood Forest area (if familiar) would take me roughly an hour to travel the 6 miles. This was prior to the expansion but talk about a crawl!!! Now in Houston, there are more of us but we do know how to crawl. I do my best to avoid the rush hour traffic times, but I'm not always successful. I also like to stop at Darrell's in Lake Charles for one of the best poboys ever. If you've not done that heading to/from Texas or the Lake Chuck area, give it a shot!
  19. A whole lot more people, more cars, more traffic - and the Cajun restaurants are few and far between. What I miss most food wise is stoping at the local street corner store and picking up fresh boiled crawfish, crab, shrimp - whatever - if you didn't want to boil yourself. Those were the days!!!
  20. Poochie - I see you are from Lafayette. I'm a native Louisianian. Moved to Houston several years ago.
  21. She will throw you in your pool - in late January.
  22. I'm afraid that's going to take time bosco. At the moment you think you've got it figured out, second guessing starts. I do think I'm settled on the idea of obtaining the 23 ultimate. The rest is still up for discussion.
  23. I understand what you are stating, CC. I'll pass on the financing as I don't generally finance anything unless it's zero percent for a certain term, or my house/car/etc. Revolving lines, etc. can be dangerous, so I use one card, use it tremendously, but pay it off each month. Saving up for and purchasing the KK instantly will be quite rewarding! It will take time, but that's the way it is, at least for me!
  24. Yeah. I've done quite a bit of reading up on the product. I'd very much like to order today, but it isn't in the cards. I'll do the slow and go (as opposed to the low and slow - ha!).
