  1. Woo Hoo! Exciting. Don't forget to take lots of pics!
  2. Great news! You seem much more laid back, I am guessing you haven't mapped out the entire journey just yet....If you need help, Bosco and I are practiced.
  3. I thought about that. We will have to see if it made it on the boat....
  4. @Aussie Ora I was wondering what Ora meant. Thanks for the explanation! That is an awesome name. I especially like the latin roots aspect.
  5. @Aussie Ora Between my own research and Bosco's help this is what I have learned so far... Apparently the Nordlion is a feeder ship. It runs a route called the Surabaya shuttle or the Surabaya express (SIS1). It basically runs back and forth between Surabaya and Singapore. It leaves Surabaya approximately every 6-7 days. So it has hopefully made multiple trips since dropping off my grill. Hopefully it dropped of my grill on a trip several weeks ago. From Singapore the container carrying my grill (and many others!) will be transferred to the "mothership." The mothership will continue on a route known as SE3 which bounces up the east Asia coast until crossing for Long Beach, CA. As you correctly point out, we do not know the name of the mothership. In looking at shipping schedules it appears that there are 4 boats running the SE3 route in this general time period. The Artemis, Theseus, Dallas, and Seattle. They leave in that order and arrive in Long beach at about 1 week intervals. So...... I am seriously hoping my container is on the Artemis, but I realize that is overly optimistic. If it is on the Theseus or Dallas that seems reasonable. If it is on the Seattle, I will be disappointed. All that said, just knowing it is on the mothership across the Pacific will be great! Dennis said he will get me the name of the mothership. As soon as I have it, I will post it. Go Artemis!
  6. Looks delicious. And this was just your first cook! Imagine how good they will be after you have really gotten to know your KK. Say on the 10th, or 50th, or 500th... After all, it will last a lifetime! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. @bosco I love your enthusiasm. I must say I geek out on it too. I couldn't figure out which day the Nordlion left Surabaya and arrived in Singapore on schedule 133, so I built a quick spreadsheet and ran a regression to extrapolate the dates based upon future scheduled transit times. The Halus thing really through me for a loop. In case anyone is interested, there is a ship named the Kota Halus scheduled to arrive in Chittagong any day now. It is registered under a Singapore flag further confusing matters.
  8. HA HA! That is great! Truly a red herring. Thanks Dennis!
  9. @bosco I read through the thread and all the harassment you took. Really quite impressive. Nothing like some good natured fun to make you feel welcome, right?
  10. Awesome! Thanks guys. Impressive how fast you were able to come up with all of that! If I get any more info, I will definitely share. I guess now I have to do some real work.
  11. Ok. Spending time at work researching shipping lines instead of actually working.... I know everyone will find that hard to believe. Best I can tell, HALUS and NORDLION are container ships. My KK is on a 1x40 High Cube Container, headed to Long beach. IT is leaving through Sin - Singapore. Unfortunately, I cannot tie either of those ships to Singapore. It look like Dennis uses the PIL shipping lines. Great website listing all of their routes etc. But again the Halus does not fit in as I can tell. The NORDLION belongs to a different shipping company I think... If you can't tell, I am obsessing. Not much real work getting done....
  12. I received an email from someone at the factory with updated shipping info on my KK. I think it means that it is on a ship named "Nordlion". I am sure there is more information to be found, but I think need an experts help. @bosco? You seem to be the resident expert in tracking down container ships. Any words of advice? Below is the text of the email. Status Cargo / BL# SLGBHL0602 = NORDLION 133 // Re: Shipping Instruction HALUS For FCL 1x40 HC to Long Beach , CA US Stuffing On Friday, June 24, 2016 cargo has been loaded to m/v as per schedule, but there any update re ATD Sin & adjustment on ETA Lax ya Bu..pls find asf
  13. Excited for you. Hope you have a great night with your new best friend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Unfortunately, I am a radiologist (hence the xraydoc). I am pretty sure if I start prescribing xanax to anyone, the DEA would be on my doorstep in short order. That said, point taken. I may just have to drink a few extra beers to maintain my sanity.
  15. Broke down and emailed Dennis. I really did not expect a reply within 48 hours. This is just not that pressing in the grand scheme of things. True to his reputation for unbelievable customer service, Dennis responded within 2 minutes. He doesn't have the information readily available but said he would get it from his staff tomorrow and let me know. World class grills and world class service!
  16. @Steve M I placed my order just before midnight on July 7th. By mid afternoon on the 8th I had an email from Dennis detailing the venting instructions. The manual was an attachment to that email. If you would like, I am happy to email it to you.
  17. I believe mine is already on the water. When I bought it the website said "expected delivery late July" as opposed to "in Carson CA." I took that to mean that it was on the boat but not yet to California. I guess I will just email Dennis and ask. I just hate to bother him.
  18. I am doing everything I can to remain patient about the delivery of my KK, but it is killing me! I bought one that was already on the boat, but not yet delivered to port. Website says late July delivery expected. I completely realize I am getting ahead of myself here, but is there a way to determine what boat it is on? If so, I could follow it with the AIS data. I could probably just call and ask Dennis, but I feel bad bothering him just because of my own over excitement. @bosco I read through most of your delivery story and it seems as though you are now an expert at these things. Any suggestions?
  19. @tony b - Jaleo was our first introduction to Jose. After that, we have gone a little wild. We have eaten at Oyamel, Bazaar, China Poblano, and J in Mexico City. They are all unique and different but with he common thread that Jose brings. He is one of our top 3 favorite chefs. We would love to try more, but alas, that job thing gets in the way....
  20. @EGGARY - That sounds like an excellent sangria. I am not much of a wine drinker, but I have a weakness for champagne. The bubbles in that sangria sound great! I also like @tony b's suggestion of substituting a sparkling rose. I attached a recipe for a cava sangria. My wife and I had it at Jaleo - a Jose Andres restaurant in Washington, DC. We fell in love with it and immediately began scouring the internet for the recipe. I found it at Food.com, but it is originally Jose Andres'. It is sweet, but it packs a punch.
  21. @KevinD - I am sure glad they found it. In just a few short hours you will be stepping into the new world of KK! Pretty exciting. I am excited for you and relieved. I am the one that spoke for the 32 terra blue. If you couldn't find yours I might feel bad about keeping mine. Not bad enough to let it get away , but pretty bad ! Looking forward to pics of the unpacking and first cook!
  22. @twharton Great post. It is amazing how everyone suddenly wants to come visit when you move to Florida. We keep a reservation book so we know who is coming and when. Now, they will have another reason to come visit, besides the beaches and fantastic weather! It sounds like you have had some great times and great memories around your grill. My family is still young (two boys 13 and 11) so hopefully, we still have a lot of that to go! I do know Tinho. My boys have done the summer water sports camp with him for the past several years. Kelly Park is great for boardsailing. There is also a place they call the slick that is world renowned for kite boarding. We are lucky to live in such a wonderful place! I will take your advice on the wrench!
  23. @kevinD - That really sucks. It looks like you have some other great toys to play with though. I hope you get it all straightened out, and soon! Keep us posted, please. I want to make sure I know what to do if there are any issues with my delivery.
