  1. Difference is you need to pierce the meat with the spit rod, but not with the cradle. The spit rod comes with a removable pointy tip for spearing things. You can also add third party baskets and forks to give you even more flexibility. And as @Kevin H showed, chickens with the spit rod readily clear the lower grate.
  2. @Kevin H - another great cook! You definitely know how to get the most out of your 32.
  3. Not with the cradle, but with the spit rod for sure. I have both the cradle and spit rod for my 23. I prefer the spit rod by far, and only purchased the spit rod for my 32. Hardly use the cradle now.
  4. @mohctp - check out this post. That’s how you fully utilize a 32.
  5. You got it. I haven’t tried, but believe you could also add the rotisserie chicken while doing the ribs at the same time by using one of the lower grates for the ribs on the indirect side. Should be enough clearance for the chicken to spin.
  6. Yup. Exactly what @MacKenzie said. The only thing I’ll add is that your 32 is easily configured for two zone, so you can readily go from low and slow temps on the indirect side to very hot on the direct side in a matter of minutes with a turn or two of the top vent.
  7. Has it come to this?? We all sit around weak kneed waiting to see poor ol' Bruce cook rice?
  8. Guess it was too much to hope to find a KK at the beach rental, but the view is nice. Brought my old Grillgrates and inverted them to create a searing surface. Worked okay, but I like the sear grate on my KK better. Using a gasser for the first time in years...don’t miss it at all!
  9. I haven’t had any issues with staining or scratching on my teak tables, but I’m pretty obsessive about wiping them clean after a cook.
  10. Given, that, I think the 32 sounds like the ideal size for you. A 42 would be overkill. You’re far better off adding a second, smaller KK later. I can’t speak to stainless as both my grills have teak side tables. I like them a lot. They detach and can be stored when not in use. Applying teak conditioner once or twice a year keeps them looking new.
  11. I do all of these combinations on the 32 all the time and have plenty of real estate between the main and upper grates. Really just comes down to quantity. For example, I could do several large prime ribs on the maingrate of the 32 while using the upper grate for probably 20-30 baked potatoes. When all of that comes off and is resting, I could grill a small farm’s worth of asparagus on the main grate. Depending on the size of your family, that’s a LOT of food.
  12. Easy to spin multiple chickens on the 32 while other things rest. Rotisserie chickens take about 1h40m at 400. How you do the sides depends on what they are and what else you’re cooking. The upper grate on the 32 gives you loads of real estate for sides with lots of meat on the main grate. I often cook vegetables on the indirect side while running the rotisserie as well.
  13. The problem with Hatteras is that the beaches are so crowded.
  14. I have what I want. My adult kids and my youngest, who just graduated high school, here at our favorite family vacation spot. That’s sunset over Pamlico Sound from our rental on Hatteras Island, NC.
  15. Beautiful garden! I used to do square foot gardening, but my current home is tucked a bit into the woods and can barely even grow grass in some spots due to the shade.
  16. I’ll be watching for this as well.
  17. Let's face it, nobody likes cats. That tortoise is a hero!
  18. I should soak mine in some PBW soon. Gave them a lick. Definitely not Vegemite.
  19. Congrats! The BB32 is an excellent choice. Good news is that moving it is a brief amount of pain for a lot of gain. I recommend bribing four Army ROTC students with a steak dinner to move it for you!
  20. "Whirring" fits in this context.
  21. As long as we're all learning dialects..."whizzing" in "American" generally means something different from what you intended, and usually follows drinking.
  22. Yes. "Broken my duck" is definitely going in my vocabulary. I've already incorporated some Aussie with chook, roadkill, snags, arvo. Now I just need to learn English.
  23. Almost looks like those grates were smeared with Vegemite. Couldn't you just lick them clean?
