So now all that's left to do is unwrap, unbox and assemble: Now I just have to do something with the remnants: And clean the brick! There used to be a planting bed at that part of the house before I dug it up and laid the patio, I hadn't realized all that green gunk was behind the grills. Oh, and put some charcoal in the grill and fire it up! Almost forgot....

So I made a run over to my storeroom and found an old block and tackle(funny how those things you haven't used in 20 years come in handy), did some rigging and came up with this setup. McGyver would be proud! But I hadn't noticed the bottom support box under the cooker, it hung up on it after getting off the plywood blocks under the front casters: I could have pushed it off but I was afraid it would get away from me so I called my brother-in-law and asked him to stop by on his way home. In the meantime I cleaned up, unwrapped the charcoal pallet and unboxed the accessories: He showed up after an hour or so and rocked the cooker off the box while I pulled, KK came down the ramp and touched down on the patio as sweet as could be: To be continued(part 2)...

The delivery truck arrived today and this time it had the KK crate on it as well as the charcoal. The driver was very helpful, he backed up to the house without being asked and after I bribed tipped him he was happy to roll the crate the 25' or so to the patio. It helped that I had 3 sheets of plywood laying on the grass for the pallet jack to roll on. Last Tuesday when they arrived with just the charcoal pallet(I refused delivery), I had one of my framing crews working on the sunroom so I had plenty of manpower on hand. Today they're 75 miles away generating income and it was just me so I was happy to tip the driver and even happier when he agreed to haul it around. First pics: I know all about taking out the lag screws and lifting off the top of the crate but it's kind of hard to do that with no help. So I proceeded to demolish the crate: So the KK gets it's first glimpse of Georgia Sunshine! Now I just have to figure out how to get it onto the patio. To be continued....

Don't fret Mac, there will be pics. After all this there's no way I wouldn't document the event for posterity. So what do you think: Ms. or Mr. Coyote? If something has a name it must have a gender, right? It's easy with pets and children, they come with that built in but is a ceramic cooker a he or a she? Or am I just overthinking this whole name thing?

Update: I got an email from Dennis this morning and at his suggestion called Roadrunner. After talking to a CS rep and some waiting on hold I got assurance they had both the crate and the pallet and scheduled delivery for next Tuesday. 15 minutes later I missed a call and received a text saying if I wanted delivery today call back in the next 10 minutes. I called back, turns out it was from the driver who tried to deliver the pallet of charcoal. He said they had the crate with the grill, they didn't load it on his truck Tuesday because it looked like a big vase! I told him it wasn't a vase, it was $4K worth of "charcoal grill". We confirmed delivery of the crate with the "vase" and the pallet of charcoal for Tuesday and he'll call me when he leaves and let me know if we're looking at an AM or PM delivery so I can plan my day. Then another 1-1/2 hours later I get a voice mail from Echo Global Logistics, a Chicago number. It's Sarah, she just wants to know if I'm aware of a delivery on the 25th. So I call her back and give her the quick synopsis, everything's good. I get home and check email, there's one from Andrew at Echo telling me they're looking into it and another from Sarah to confirm the 10/25 delivery. All I can say is Dennis must have lit a fire under someone! Thank you, Dennis! So it looks like Coyote is coming home. I could have taken delivery Monday but there's a dumpster full of debris in the driveway from tearing off the deck and building a sunroom . I hope I can tip the driver enough to get him to back up to the house and roll the crate to the patio since my 6 strong carpenters are busy generating revenue elsewhere. Now the big question: Is it Ms. Coyote or Mr. Coyote? Thanks to all who've responded!

Thanks for the empathy folks, it's just been one of those days. Roadrunner Transport just added on to the complications. If I ever, ever even mention remodeling my house I pray some merciful soul with a carry permit will drop by and put one through my eye! As I said, it's been one of those days...

Well, I thought my KK was going to be delivered today, had a crew of 6 strong carpenters on hand to uncrate and roll into place. The truck showed up with a pallet containing 10 boxes of charcoal, 4 boxes of grill parts and that was it. Only thing missing was 700 lb of the 948 lb shipment... Refused delivery so no pics. Maybe we'll do better tomorrow. Or the next day, when I won't have any help. I'm not exactly the happiest camper right now.

Recipes, reviews, cooking science, it's all there. They also have a forum but it's a pay-to-play thing, quite reasonable. Enjoy your new grill!

Congrats, that's one heck of an anniversary gift! So who's the giftor and and who's the giftee? How did the delivery go? Is she uncrated and in place? Have you fired her up yet? My 22 is sitting in a shipping hub in Atlanta, he/she/it will be home Tuesday. I'm so looking forward to that truck backing up the driveway. Congratulations again! Bill

Seriously? My HiCap 22 is being delivered Tuesday, I have a place to put it, I've read the manual frontwards and backwards and I'll have 6 stout young carpenters on site to move it. I'm as prepared as I can get as far as getting it off the truck, rolled in place, burning in, etc.. But I can't for the life of me think of a name for a cooking appliance. I just have no talent for giving names to inanimate objects, heck, I have trouble with kids and pets. My wife named both our kids(thank God), I tend to name cats either with some horrific name like "Nathaniel Hawthorne Cat"(my wife reduced it to "Catter", bless her) or just a description like "Yellow Cat". Except for my Bronco II years ago which I nicknamed Baby Bronc my vehicles have always been what the manufacturer called them. So is this a mandatory thing for KK owners? Will I be shunned if I just call my grill a KK or should it be referred to as the Supreme Hi-Cap 22 Autumn Nebula/Metallic Bronze Tweed? As I said, I'm awful at this. I'm open to suggestions, BTW. That is so sweet, Ms. Pebbles has a daughter! I think you need a Mr. Pebbles to complete the family like a BB32 or, if Ms. Pebbles is into the he-man type maybe the 42. Just a suggestion...

I use an Excel workbook with worksheets for each cook. The original came from the Amazing Ribs site(free download), I modified it a little but it's essentially the downloaded version. I like it because it encourages me record the same info for every cook. I guess if I wanted to keep a notebook I could just print out blank pages and scribble on them but for me it's easier to just keep it in the 'puter.
