  1. Re: A Grateful Hello To All You Grateful Grillers! Hello Michael, Nice to hear from you. I also love my kk, performs as advertised!! I do not make a living cooking but i do some catering from time to time, and the kk DOES make a difference in the outcome of any dish. Have a good year!
  2. Re: How to make a huge indirect cooking area So would your recommend using the heat deflector with the foil? or is it necessary at all?
  3. Re: Roti install question Help HI bbqpete, Yes, i did get it all figured out. What happened was that i purchased a new 2007 model, called the "Supreme", Dennis sent me a mounting bracket for a gen II, which does not work with my cooker. He is trying to fine me one at this time. I bought the 50lb motor 110v. Thanks for your interest!
  4. Re: extruded loading question Hey Paswesley, This is my first ceramic cooker, i have used my "old bess" for many yrs, you know the choo choo train type smoker!! The extruded stuff in the picture is not Dennis's i got it from johnnyboy, the guy that does the covers (coverworks) he lives not far from me and works even closer. He sold it to me because his wife does not like it.
  5. Re: extruded loading question Actually its a standard cook about 12 to 14 hrs, but i can still use what does not burn. I learned early that you can just fill the basket, and you will never have a problem. Cooking about 48 lbs (precooked weight) of pork butts for about 65 people, i should end up with about 25 lbs finished pork.
  6. Re: extruded loading question Thank you Syz and JD, i had heard someplace on the forum that stacking them like "chimney" is the best way to go, but like you said syz, not everything is one way! Thank you both again.
  7. Hello, Have had my KK for a couple months now, it is the Supreme model almond mix in color. Would show it to anyone in the area considering buying one.
  8. Hey all you expierenced extruded guys, do i have my extruded loaded in the basket correctly?? There is 2 layers of it in there.
  9. Re: Can Post more pics now!! Maybe i was not clear, i am using extruded for a long cook, doing about 48lbs (pre cooked weight) of pork butts for a catering job week after next. The last long cook i did a week ago for the staff at work i used Frontier lump just out of curiosity. I filled the basket the cook was about 12 hrs long at 235, still had about a quarter basket of lump left. Your correct the lump works well for high temp cooks. I got the extruded from Johnnyboy (coverworks) its new to me so this will be interesting but i anticipate no problem. Thanks for keeping and eye on me Firemonkey!!
  10. Re: Hotter 'n Hell 100, 2011 Congrats Michael, a physical challenge can be very rewarding. I know you feel good about yourself finishing a grueling event like that. I go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week, i find that even those mornings that i just dont feel like it and go anyway, i feel much better when i leave the gym! Getting harder at 60 though!!

    Polish your kk!

Re: Polish your kk! Ok but i will be more comfortable, Ferrari's still look great from behind!
  12. Re: Can Post more pics now!! Thanks John, i actually did see that someplace on the forum. I will be catering an event in a couple weeks, looks like about 50 people or so, going to use the extruded charcoal, fill the basket may use the minion method to light it. My last long cook went perfect using lump!
  13. Re: Can Post more pics now!! Thank you Dennis, that may be exactly the reason. Mine does not have the rear door though.

    Polish your kk!

Thought i would pass this along to everyone, and easy way to shine your kk. Lucas Slick Mist, available at auto parts stores and maybe Walmart (some do some dont) Get a couple micro fiber towels, available at Walmart also. Simply spray the Slick mist on, wipe it off with first towel, wipe again with second towel, voila! great shine and easy! Also works well on you Farrari, Lambo's etc! Did i spell Farrari right??
