  1. For reasons that don't matter, I ended up with 21 boxes of coco char. I was surprized at the compactness of the boxes. I suppose I was thinking of 20 bags of regular lump. I'm getting to the fact that this stuff takes up much less storage space than I imagined, and next time I order I won't be worried where I' going to put it. This weekend was my first use of the coco char, and I can't see using anything else in the future. I didn't find it difficult to light, it did last as well as advertised, and the flavors were barely noticeable. This is great stuff!!! Thanks Dennis!!!

    The "Stall"

Re: The "Stall" That was very helpful. I never read that in all the research I've done trying to learn what the "stall" was, and what caused it. I've probably read articles from 10 different authors on the subject, who I thought were "experts" in the field. Wow, that really enlightened me, thank you.

    The "Stall"

I'm not experiencing the "stall". I know it's from evaporating moisture, and the kk is so well insulated that evaporation is greatly reduced, but I'm getting no stall at all. I'm cooking pork butts at 225deg., briskits also, nothing. Comments?
  4. Re: Am I Crazy ? I have the xl bge, and once I used the kk, I don't even want to take the cover off of the bge. The kk is such a different animal, you WILL NOT be disappointed that you got it. GET IT NOW!!!

    help me decide!

Re: help me decide! Casebeag is right, pull the trigger, get your grill, you'll love it. Over analyzing just delays delivery!
  7. Re: WiFi Guru Thats too simple. I'll try it. I'm considering R2 as a name.
  8. I just got my wifi unit working in infrastructure mode, which means that it is communicating through my existing wifi router. It has more capabilities this way, including internet access to the control unit, and e-mail and text alerts. It's a bit more difficult to get into this mode, but I believe it works a bit better. AdHoc mode, which is out of the box, works very easily, will work for anybody with a smart device, it just doesn't have quite the range or capability of infrastructure mode. This unit does seem expensive, but once you've invested in a kk, come on! The other thing about the fan units, you better have your grill soaked and close to your target temp before plugging the fan in, or you'll have an overshoot on your hands! Set up properly, this unit will take all guesswork out of temp control on a long cooks, leaving more time for just admiring your beautiful kk!

    help me decide!

Re: help me decide! I just got the bronze last week, I love it. Of the matte colors, my choice would be white, but this is a very personal decision you have to make. The gas lighter is way not necessary, Dennis as much as talked me out of it, and I've read posts where owners never took them out of the box.
  10. Re: Where's my KK, I ordered it Friday? My wait is just recently over. No question it was worth it. As I have stated in a different post, I have an xl bge, which I thought was one of the best. Maybe it still is, but when you get your kk, it is painfully obvious that it is its own class. From the cooking aspect, the first thing I noticed was the fact that it does heat soak, so you have to be careful if you want to cook low and slow. You WILL be glad you got the kk!
  11. Re: New in New Orleans The quality of this grill/smoker/cooking device is obvious. As a bge owner, which is better than many available, the kk is truly its own class. The difference can't be described, just experienced.
  12. It finally arrived! After about six weeks of agony, it arrived. I was able to unload and place by myself, I'm ready to go. Hi temp burn done, I'm gonna do some ribs and a pork butt. Normally I would be very disappointed that my fishing weekend is gonna be washed out, but this will be a great time to try the yet un-named bronze! Notice the xl bge hiding in shame!
